What bugs me more than anything is that he's some random fucking retard on the internet spouting nonsense opinions on any and all games that land on his radar. Given the fact that he's repeatedly shown to have next to no longterm experiences with half of the genres he touches, why the fuck does anyone listen to him? We shit on reviewers belonging to bigger places for being sellouts and having terrible opinions all the time. Why do people give this guy a pass?
Honestly, it's at this point that I believe most people just repeat the shitty echo chamber complaints they hear all the time about reviewers like IGN without giving any thought to what it is they're saying. A toss-up between DS (for challenge) and the PSP (for closer to original, delicious 2D sprites, and other extras).
Whatever you do, stay the fuck away from the Steam release. It's a garbage port (of the mobile port of the DS version) with locked 20fps battles and an atrocious UI.
Does anyone have any opinions of this game? I'm tempted to get it after there's been a lot of good reviews.

since there's no level cap, someone with an exp increase bonus will always level up faster

Not really, I bought it yesterday and even though I'm still listening to the soundtrack, there's just not a lot of content to the game.
Gameplay is great, but there's not much to it after you've played it for a few hours.

The trial is now out, so give it a go. Personally I'm liking the artstyle a lot, the heroines are qt and the story seems like it could be fun, similarly like seasonal fantasy harem anime can be if done well.
I don't bother with any untranslated games unless they appeal directly to my fetish.
And sometimes robot wars if it has characters I like.
