I got the Definitive Edition recently, but I already finished the original one.So my question is What is the difference between the original and definitive?
Updated graphics (the original did not look that great so don't expect a great looking game on the definitive edition either)

And in case someone's once again new to this PC gaming stuff: Use a program like DaemonTools Lite to mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.
here's the recommended emulator settings for SH1. Works great on all other games too.
The plugins used are:
-Pete's OpenGL 1.78; (more options & better performance than 2.x version)
-Eternal's SPU Engine.
Alternatively just use a software renderer for very 1:1 PS1-like graphics, including 240p only.
...OR just buy the game from PSN Store for few bucks.

I installed SH3 and the FOV mod, have everything set up, except I cannot figure out how to alter my resolution to 1680x1050. You are supposed to edit the disp.ini in the savedata folder, but there is no disp.ini for me. What gives?

I'm an aspiring writer who would like to design worlds and stories for vidya.
I would like to ask you if you think that :
1) Story can be the core of a classic game (not a walk sim or a VN), or it's always something more, a bonus to the gameplay ?
2) What is the most important to you : world-building, characterisation, or the story itself ?
Could you provide me with a good and/or a bad example of the above.
My own opinions (feel free to criticize/skip that part) :
>World-building
The Elder Scrolls series is probably one of best example that I have in mind. Skyrim in particular manages to still be interesting, even with a boring gameplay, a shitty "Radiant" system and a disappointing main quest. Reading the little books, listening to the conversations and discovering the world is the main reason to play skyrim IMO.
>Characterisation
ME2 is to me the best example ever of characterisation, both for the PC and the NPC. (almost) every companion has his flaws, his interesting story and so on. Shepard can also be your own Shepard and every option is interesting and valid.
>Story
I think it's the most complicated thing to do. My favourites stories are, I think, Portal 2 : fun, tragic, mysterious and very touching. Bastion also tells a beautiful story with interesting themes.
