The beginning of The Suffering scared the shit out of me. The longer the game goes on, the less scary it got though
The first time killing those dogs with the pickaxe in Penumbra is the only time I've really felt scared playing a videogame. The combat in that game was fantastic, if you mistime a swing you'll just fling the camera around and end up disoriented and not sure where the enemies are.
