I honestly can't get into the game. Gave it a genuine try but I just couldn't get into it.

I feel like most weapons are now obsolete compared to it. Are there any other weapons that do decent damage compared to it and offer a different playstyle?

No, other weapons can't really compare, you have a weapon that can four shot the last boss.
However, you can beat the game with every weapon, so pick one you like that feels different.
I actually want to do a black halberd run, but I always get one so late.

There were a bunch of XBL Community Games like this. A few of them were remakes of old shareware game concepts with their own unique style. I wanted to go back and play some but a lot of them just disappeared. I don't get it. One of them I even bought and it's gone.
