So pretty much all of the stuff we saw in the leaked DaSIII screenshots and concept art got either scrapped, simplified or reworked. Making your own bonfires from corpses, those phantom swords, different bosses in the same boss area, expanded Kiln of the First Flame with enemies etc.
Looks like they just ran out of time again and some stuff simply didn't work so they repurposed the items to serve other means (Coiled Sword Fragment used for warping and a few mainstory instances etc.)
What do you think? From makes really great games in such a short time span but they never seem to reach their true potential because of it. Here's hoping they'll let the Souls formula rest this console generation and make a completely new one next generation with a longer development time and without any reused assets.

They had plenty of time to make Dark Souls 3.
Virtually every game the size of Dark Souls 3 has an abundance of cut or re-purposed content. In most cases it isn't relevant to time constraints.
