Last games I played are DeS and DS1. Back then it was not a viable way, was just work arounds so I never tried co-op.

The password system shit is a little buggy, but you can do it. What I read was to make it a 8 letter password, restart the game after you do it, put your sign down a little away from a bonfire, then wait up to 5-10mins.
After the sign shows up the first time, it's almost immediate after that.

I'm pretty sure gankers will disappear over time anyways, co-op is so absurdly overcrowded right now because new players who jumped onto the hype train need to be babysitted so hard that you get summoned in a minute.
If you come across a Gank squad, use your enviroment. Set up an ambush, ally with enemies etc. I've only done some very basic invasions in the first area and I always use the Hollow guy that turns into a snake to fuck their shit up when it isn't a 1 on 1.

There's a community dedicated spot for dueling next to Anor Londo outside pontiff's bonfire. They use red soapstones and if you use the dried finger to summon a bunch of them you can start a fight club and weed out weak people so you can get a decent fight. You could also put your own red soapstone down to get summoned as it's pretty quick.

What I like about Souls PVP though is that you can set up fights anywhere, I think it sucks that you have to restrict yourself to one secret spot just so you can duel in peace
They should have made a duelist covenant or something. Using the soapstone while in the covenant sets a dueling sign, activating that sign transports both into a NPC-less version of the area where no Estus or other phantoms are allowed. Shouldn't have been hard to set up lore-wise either.

The problem isn't even the number of invaders it's you always get summoned into a world where the host is sitting back at the first bonfire with his 3 buttbuddies. I never enter a world where they are actually doing anything in the level so I've started playing the long game and forcing them to come to me.
Chip away at them with bombs and shit until they get pissed and chase you into strong monsters. Or better yet just invade the Grand Archives and make them run through the Funhouse without being able to get back much estus. Half the time I've forced the host to just kill themselves out of frustration looking for me.

I just want there to be some variety in my invasions, and I don't think it benefits anyone to stack reds against hosts with summons. The kind of host that plays the game with two summons probably doesn't want anything to do with the pvp and reds get in an unfair fight. It's not impossible to win but it's universally stacked against the red which dissuades people from doing invasions, which probably also has an effect on the blues because they won't get summoned as often. It's just poorly thought out, I can beat a 1v3 but having the system only generate that kind of situation is ultimately a bad thing for the game's online.

If they haven't cleared the level it's not that bad in some places. But mostly it takes too long and has too little reward, if it get a big chunk of souls or something I'd be willing to spend 30 minutes whittling down 3 people's worth of estus solo. People can't play patient so you can get so many easy hits in.

The Dragon Dildos in Dark Souls 1 did that. They couldn't be summoned if you had any sort of phantom.

I always bow/wave to invaders because I'm always in the "Help me, blue guys!" covenant. so naturally I'm going to buy time for the inter-dimensional Po-po, or in rare cases, the white/gold phantom I summoned to pop in. It has the side effect of seeming polite, so there's no reason not to.
Also, a big fuck you to the red phantoms who run through the entire level and sit next to the boss door, hoping that I die to the monsters before reaching them. It'd be one thing if they ambushed me or tried to pull mobs to help, but the waiting at the end shit isn't fun or interesting. It also has the effect of giving me another phantom to aid in clearing the zone, so I don't really get it.

I think people don't know how important rings are to all magic builds yet. That happened to me against Artorias in DaS, twice, he's resistant to magic, lightning, fire, slash, and blunt. I had a pure faith build with 12 str and 12 dex using a +5 chaos reinforced club as my best melee weapon against him and hitting him for around 100 or so each hit. Shooting great lightning spear at him saved my bacon even with a resistance it did enough damage. It was worse when I did an Oswald of Carim build and Velka's rapier did fuck all damage against him

They were fun because you could make them interesting and varied, do builds geared towards certain areas, use joke weapons, etc. The most fun part about invading is making the hosts game more interesting, while it's true there have been a lot of twinks and hackers it's worth it for the genuinely unique experiences it can add to the game. It also makes the game more replayable because there's a reason to experiment with different builds instead of playing the game once and dropping it. The problem with pvp since 2 is that in one way or another it has actively discouraged the kind of pvp that was the most fun in 1 (not honorable dueling, or a stacked game of cat and mouse, just an engagement that was unique to that one playthrough that made the experience more unique and interesting.)

I had about 60-40% success in irithyll dungeon. I just kite them around the jailers or pretend to be scared and run away and cloak with a branch only to gank the host later.
I only do this in the first section though. If I see that the host has the elevator shortcut unlocked I just bail out because they can be anywhere at this point and it just a waste of time for both of us. Invasions can take long enough even in a small area.

They can't have a better weapon than you've ever had, that is how pvp scales now (+/- 10 SL too). If you've ever made a +7 weapon someone that invades you can only have up to a +7 weapon (or +3 boss soul since they count as two levels)

Thats how it has always been. It was just too much of a work to go to the NPC to change the covenant that not a lot of people ever bothered. Now its easy.
My biggest regret in this playthrough is leveling out of post-ponttiff's invade range.
Archdragon peak is filled with people too but i miss the bloodbaths and my fellow aldrichbros evening the tides.

there are already pvp spots much like there was on DaS and DaS2, there are actually tournaments and shit, also you can just leave an invasion sign, check the communities groups or general
What's the best level range to be able to connect to as much players as possible. I'm level 70 and have no trouble connecting to anyone but I was thinking of getting a few more levels.
