Currently going back through to find the secrets. The soundtrack is awesome, but turning the music off and listening to your own playlist while playing is socomfy.
Also, I don't have anything to apologize for. I stayed optimistic the whole time, now I get to enjoy the bitter attitudes of everyone on /v/.

The PC port was the first time I ever played it. It's really fucking good. The music and atmosphere makes it pretty eerie, though I was missing some traditional rock music.

I almost dropped it after the 3rd time you have to go to the god damn forest. Had to force myself to end it because I bought the collector's edition.
Why do people look everything up in Dark Souls? You know most of the fun is finding the secrets on your own, right? It's basically the only triple-A series that lets you capture the feeling of playing games as a kid and searching to uncover all the secrets of barely suggested hidden content.
I played Souls game like everybody else until 3, but since it felt so familiar I decided to not look up shit. I haven't found most of the content, and on my second playthrough I still haven't seen a character quest to its natural conclusion. And despite 3 leaving me a bit lukewarm unlike the other games except 2, I'm actually having way more fun with it than any of the other games.
There might be bosses I haven't seen, areas I haven't seen, characters I haven't met, bonfires I haven't found, builds that are made interesting by items I haven't found or any number of things — and I love it. What's even better is that you can find people with weapons and armor that you haven't accessed yet, or invade worlds with NPCs in places that you haven't seen before.
Are you ever going to play Dark Souls properly, anon?

Getting good is the opposite of the childlike fun and wonder of videogames, as I've found in the OP. If I were to get good, I'd look up the best weapons and armor and the sense of discovery would be gone.
