Why are the designs in the new Doom so generic and awful?
Visually you may be right but the guy on the right has like five or six different attacks that require different responses from the player while the original cyber demon literally is just a large imp with higher HP and faster projectiles that explode on impact.
Bosses in the original doom were terrible.

I too never really got why JRPGs are popular.
Turn based combat really just does not have that many options open to it. I find myself just using "Best Attack" 95% of the time.
It's basically a really slowed down version of a beat em up game. I just mash the same attack move over and over til the health bars are gone. But I have to do it one turn at a time.
The few games that have those special type of moves they still don't come into play much. Bosses, the only strong foes you'd need to use those special moves on, are either unaffected by them or it's easier to just brute force your way through them.
