Ocarina of Time sold more than anything else (not true, by the way), therefore it must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Videogame critics are often totally ignorant of the videogames of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that Ocarina of Time did anything worthy of being saved.

Anyway, I agree. I'm 26 and naturally played plenty of older games. But the past year I've gone back and played even more classics I missed, even some I wasn't really interested in, just so I'd have some perspective on my main hobby. It's funny to me that a lot of professional critics don't have this experience, and don't even seem interested. It also makes me respect the few who do more.
I wonder, if I really build up this experience more, and take a more inquisitive attitude about the game as I play them, if I can surpass even some of the actual good vidya critics out there. At least in my head, if that makes sense.

People get hyped for the sexy parts of games: butt slapping, thigh locks, upskirt, suggestive moaning and heavy breathing, chicks with thong leotards.
Why not just put AAA money into a game that is just about fucking, in whatever bizarre and unique creative way you can imagine. You want to play a turn based strategy game where you are a tentacle monster commanding a harem whose goal is to subjugate and absorb other harems? You can do that. You want to play a fighting game that is straight up competitive sex? Got it. You want to dress up your waifu then take her to dinner and then go home and hold hands while passionately making love? Go for it.
Why are so convinced that we have to stop at suggestive? Why do we use metaphors for sex when we could just make games about sex? Case in point, why do we make games with vidya girls fighting when what we really want is a game about sex? Just make a freaking game about sex. We would probably be a healthier society for it.
This happens in Japan already but Western society has been brainwashed by the Jews into believing sex is evil unless it's for the sole purpose of procreating a new generation of obedient worker-spender bees
America is a giant source of income for games, its nearly 50% of the market by itself. Due to many reasons sexuality is a very taboo subject in america, mostly due to the iron grip religion had over the country for over two centuries. Because of this sex ed and sexuality in general just wasn't taught about in schools in America except to tell children "just dont." Because these children grew up never learning about sex, they didn't teach their children, and don't want their children to learn about it because they didn't learn about it.
Because of this, if a game gets an 18+ rating many stores just won't sell it for risk of backlash of parents seeing that their children might see a titty or something. Since stores won't stock the game, the sales of that game suffer. These reduced sales can't cover the budget of triple A titles.
Now you understand why we don't have outright sex games.
