Even creators at the level of Inafune have their missteps. We all remember MGS4-5. But he shouldn't be burried for one mistake.
Comcept is a small company, and new at that. Inafune's vision was too big for the company and their resources. He aimed for the stars when they didn't have rocket ships.
He should have just put funds into better levels and I assure you it would have been almost passable.
That or just lighting fixes would have sufficed.
In the end who cares. We have porn material left over so that can be taken as a win

Disgaea PC, Phantom Brave PC
They meet 3/5 of the criteria on your list. Disgaea PC has a really enjoyable story, it sucked me in almost immediately. Phantom Brave is much more dramatic, but very well written.

This past EVO made one thing clear, Smash has no place here. This is a fighting game event. Mechanics that games like Street Fighter and Virtua Fighter gave birth to are the pillars of the event. It should be a celebration to fighting games. Instead it's the organizers selling out to the highest bidder no matter relevancy. Smash shouldn't take almost half the running time of the main stage when it's one fucking series that is barely a fighting game.
Where are the games like Virtua Fighter, Third Strike, KoF, Blazblue, DoA5 and Soul Calibur? Why are these games being pushed aside for what is something that is really just a party game for kids and manchildren?
