That actually made me a little hype.

Shame an ugly nigger and British slit with an ugly apparent accent have to ruin the film.

Why are the French so good at depression-core?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.

Being French is depressing
>>
Because they have been aware for years that the good times are already behind them. Something you are starting to see everywhere in American cinema.

because they headed the modernist and existentialist literary movements

Are there anymore shows like it? What's your favorite episode? Did they actually have ads in the 50s?

What's the most cinematic episode of AHP? I don't want to waste my time watching 50's era television unless it has good mise en scene.

I haven't seen them for a while, but the Hitchcock-directed ones seemed alright. The Case of Mr. Pelham is pre good.

Why are the Marvel movies so well received? Not to sound cliche, but I literally feel like the kid from the emperor's new clothes story sometimes. Every time one of these movies comes off of the assembly line, it's either treated like gold or given a pass because it's better than non-MCU superhero movies. I'm sorry, but marginally better by comparison doesn't equate to good.

The lowest ranked MCU film on rotten tomatoes is Iron Man 2 at 72%. That means according to professional movie critics, every mainstream MCU film EVER MADE ranges somewhere from good to EXTREMELY good.

But why? These movies are so fucking mediocre it hurts. Almost every Marvel movie falls into one of two categories...

1. Hero gets some sort of power and eventually has to fight a generically evil version of himself.

Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, Incredible Hulk, Thor, Ant Man, Winter Soldier (this one is admittedly better than the others, but still relies heavily on this trope) Age of Ultron (although this one combines the second formula as well)

2. Good guys fight each other for a while before teaming up to fight a common enemy.

Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Age of Ultron, (educated guess) Civil War.

The only two that don't fall neatly into these categories are Thor 2, a movie whose antagonist was a horde of Dark Elves that spoke in subtitles and some weird blackish red goo, and Captain America, a movie so bloated that all of it's key action setpieces had to be shown in montage, but inexplicably managed to find time to come to a screeching halt to incorporate a 3 minute long Broadway style dance number.

The villains are one dimensional, the dramatic tension is almost always undercut by obnoxious jokes, and there are never any consequences to anything that happens movie to movie (remember when SHIELD was decimated? Yeah, whatever, they all work for Tony Stark now. What, he quit in the last movie? Well he's back now because fuck you).

Because they're fun.
>>
and yet, somehow, they can keep making the same movie over and over for seven fucking years and people keep coming. They can do no wrong.

What the hell has to happen in order for these boring ass movies to fail?
>>
I just watch these movies to see superheroes punch things, okay. I'm not gonna pretend the plot isn't garbage 90% of the time.

What are the best Vampyre movies?
There's a screening of Herzog's Nosferatu I am going to see tomorrow night and I wanted to see some other versions before I do. So /tv/ what are the best vampyre movies?

Love Herzog's. Might be my favorite version. His style at the time with Popol Vuh's music is so unique. Enjoy the screening.

Herzog's movie is an odd meshing of the original Nosferatu movie (featuring some of the same exact locations) and the original Stoker novel (which many other movies follow more closely).

The 1958 Dracula (with Christopher Lee) is another one worth seeing. The old Nosferatu is worth seeing at least once, but didn't age well imo. Check out the first "Dracula" movie from 1931 is cool too.

This list looks good. I haven't seen the other '58 Dracula before.

>>63497918
I've seen the Murnau version recently and the '58 version when I was a kid at some point but I should give it a re-watch. I remember it being slightly comedic in tone which I didn't expect from a horror movie. A lot of the stuff from that list seems to devolve into camp genre stuff too, which seems weird given the nature of the original story.

Shadow of the Vampire (should watch Nosferatu first)
Let the Right One In (hipster answer but really one of the best vampire movies ever)
John Carpenter's Vampires (come at me)
