approximately 15% of people don't show up for their flights. so airlines overbook by about 10-12%. some times this means that flights get overbooked.

While Luke is initially dismissed as a whiney farm boy by Han and has to earn his respect, in ten minutes Han thinks Rey is amazing, offers her a job and tells her Chewie loves her. She can also speak Wookie because...umm... The Force?
There's no real drama with Rey, no sense of progression. She's boosted from "A New Hope Luke" to "Return of the Jedi Luke" in half an hour because The Force.
