Would you watch a Live Action Daria movie?
212 posts and 30 images submitted.
>>
If it had a Jewish actress who had very hairy arms, sure.
>>
I liked Daria, but I don't think I would go watch it with friends. It was fitting for a tv format, not for cinema.
>>
Daria can be black, I don't care either way about that. Her white-ness was not really essential to her character. I doubt they'd make Beavis and Butthead black, but we'll see. They'd also work with any race, at least in theory, but SJWs don't like blacks being portrayed in any negative light so they'd probably shitfit if there was a black B&B.

The most unbelievable part of that for me was that he didn't commit suicide by the age of 30

I didn't care for the first episode. I thought Sam Neill was going to be more GOAT. I just didn't care for it that much, and all the hipster music drove me nuts too.

Got dragged along to see this new tarzan flick with some friends tonight.
My thoughts
>Action scenes are shaky cam with a million cuts
>zero continuity, waltz has empty hands one cut, then a tribal sheild, then spear too which he never uses, then two shields, then nothing, then a spear again.
>skaarsguard got ripped as fuck, dude is enormous. Totally sells the physicallity of the role
>I like the way they gave him ape like hands from running on all 4s
>samuel l Jackson plays Sam l jackson perfectly. Did they give him a script or just let him roam the set with a camera on him
>wonky as fuck cg animals.
>totally out of place lines. Seriously, a pedo priest joke? A joke about licking gorilla balls? What the fuck?
>Samuel l Jackson feels guilty about killing indians. So black guy in a white guilt movie has Indian killing guilt. Interesting.
>the camera must be rotating at all times. Even during static dialogue. No still shots ever
> evil whitey to the max by the way
> none of the conflicts resolve in a satisfying way, super contrived conclusion.
>Tarzan flexes his way out of being strangled by a super spider silk noose. Why even hype that rosary noose thing up?
>margot robbie is so fucking pretty.
Shit movie on all fronts. The actors involved deserved better, except Samuel l jackson, I don't know if he's ever actually acted.
Not enough Phil Collins

There's a scene where margot robbie is trying to find tarzan in their house, and you just hear different animal sounds which margot identifies as mating calls from all these different animals. then they fug It's a pretty fun way to use his animal talking abilities.

agree with you on the priest joke. The gorilla balls joke worked though. it got a big reaction in my theater.

Imagine being Arnold in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Jamie Curtis, you fuckin' fine, all sexy with your tight body and horrific androgynous monster face. I would totally have sex with you, both my character and the real me." when all he really wants to do is fuck another 16 year old in his dressing room. Like seriously imagine having to be Arnold and not only sit in that chair while Jamie Lee Curtis flaunts her disgusting body in front of you, the favorable lighting barely concealing her stretchmarks and leathery skin, and just sit there, take after take, hour after hour, while she perfected that dance. Not only having to tolerate her monstrous fucking visage but her haughty attitude as everyone on set tells her she's STILL GOT IT and DAMN, JAMIE LEE CURTIS LOOKS LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to sit there and watch her mannish fucking gremlin face contort into types of grimaces you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been fucking nothing but a healthy diet of blondes and supermodels and later alleged rape victims for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the boonies in Austria. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on her dimpled stomach as she sucks it in to writhe it suggestively at you, smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to sit there and revel in her "statuesque (for that is what she calls herself)" beauty, the beauty she worked so hard for with personal trainers in the previous months. And then the director calls for another take, and you know you could kill every single person in this room before the studio security could put you down, but you sit there and endure, because you're fucking Arnold. You're not going to lose your future political career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.

Why did director Zack Snyder turn Batman into The Punisher?

It occurred to me the other day that, by giving us the origin and death of Superman leading into the Justice League, he's transformed the death of Superman from a largely meaningless comic book event into the sacrifice necessary to elevate a dark, cynical, "realistic" world into a new "Heroic Age." So there's yet another reason the religious imagery isn't meaningless. Viewed from that perspective, Superman isn't real-world Jesus, not "Space Jesus," but he's certainly become "comic book Jesus."

Let's run down all the different ways that "meaningless" symbolism has meaning within the context of the films:
1) It's a visual metaphor for what being Superman is - a guy trying to be a hero when his nature and environment conspire to make him appear god-like.

2) To clue us in that the people in his world are thinking of him as a god, unconsciously deifying him, and providing the answer to Perry's largely rhetorical question: "Do you know how people would react if they knew there was someone like this out there?" Well, here's the answer - when they see walking, talking proof that not only is there extraterrestrial intelligence, but that it's superior to them in almost every conceivable way, they try to turn it into an object of worship - a god.

3) To highlight the dichotomy that exists between perception and reality, an important factor when the discussion turns to magic in the DC universe, and one that's going to become increasingly important, I believe.

4) It serves a metatextual acknowledgement of Superman's place in comic book history. He's the god-like figure that ushered in the age of the superhero the "founder of the religion," as it were, and as depicted in the films, his sacrifice serves to bring Bruce back into the light, so to speak, and to elevate a dark, cynical world into one where heroes can once again live and breathe.

Not bad. All things considered.

That's pretty much the same reason why Batman's arc starts with Miller's TDKR's version. They're destroying their heroes in order to build them again from the ground up.

This guy talked about all this too:
thegekdom.com/home/2016/4/30/a-thesis-on-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice

>On the flip side, Zack Snyder does the exact same thing with Batman and his decision to start this Batman’s character arc from the end of his career like Frank Miller’s Batman was a stroke of genius. As this version of Batman is the most merciless, darkest and cynical Batman we have ever seen, equal to Frank Miller’s Batman in every way.
[...]
>That’s called hope and striving for greater good. Superman instilled that hope in Bruce Wayne and at last Batman/Bruce Wayne rose back up from his cynical darkness and becomes a more hopeful and forgiving character and Superman brought that change in him! From that perspective this movie works as an origin tale for this version of Batman as well. Ironically, he didn’t brand Lex Luthor in the prison which visually represents how he’s recovering his lost moral ethics and values.

>As you realized, this movie is a destructive art piece. The one which deconstructs 76 years of Superman and Batman mythology (along with all the preconceived notions that comes along with it) and breaks these characters only to build them from the scratch again, to turn them into the kind of Superman and Batman you love, the one which you refer to as “My Superman and My Batman”. When Justice League 1 comes around you will finally witness the canonical Superman and Batman that you love, because these two characters have been through a crucible which changes them into the heroes you love.

Something that didn't immediately hit me until I thought about how Bruce is presented in the movie - he's seeking "justice" against Clark when no one else is. Even the government's only looking to establish a dialogue with him, not bring him for any sort of crime. That's way out of bounds for mainstream Bruce.

Even if he holds Clark partially to blame for what happened in the Battle of Metropolis, he still doesn't hold that up to Alfred as the reason he's going after him. He tries to justify it to Alfred as a preemptive measure, effectively going out to kill Clark not because of what he's done, but rather because of what he *might* do.
