The problem is that, he might be more stable, but he's less passionate.
Without passion and conviction and momentum he's only going to half-ass everything.
His older stuff was great because he's fuelled by pure passion, and had tons of ideas on how to keep the ball rolling.
What he should have been doing all this time is just trying to rediscover who he is and what exactly he wants to do. Should have gone full radio silence and made a big comeback but put safeguards in place to maintain his mental stability.
