Hey guys making a one shot dungeon run for 3.5. If anybody has any ideas for a level of the dungeon that would be awesome. Each level thus far is themed and with a monster theme and a mini boss like thing at the end. They start at level 3 and level up at the end of each floor. Ending at 16.

Most players aren't interested in roleplaying the mundane; we want something exciting to do. Some players are the type who make their own fun, but you as a GM can't count on that if you don't know the group(like you said, first session) you need to be able to get your players' attention with something fantastic,...

So one of my players just managed to bring their character back from the dead as a flaming skeleton in a suit of vampiric magic armour full of wood alcohol that he has hacked so that it can be fuled by booze rather than blood.
He is now a booze lich/vampire who reeks of burning meths and cooked bacon.
Given that this was our last session of the year I now have about three weeks to work out what the fuck I'm going to do with this.
How did the last session you ran go?
Pretty good. We cleared most of a dungeon, and generally had a good time.

Hey /tg/, what exactly happens when an empire collapses? What happens to its people? What happens to its army, and its generals, and its government?
I'm planning a D&D 5e game soon and it takes place 25 years after the collapse of a tyrannical empire in a middle eastern themed part of the world and the nations it conquered have been rebuilding and reclaiming their heritage and culture, but I'm not exactly sure how things go from there.

Is it even possible?
I once had a DMPC that the players were okay with, who disguised himself as another character and adventured with the party for a while, and he became their favorite NPC.
Then, when I revealed that it was the DMPC the entire time, he immediately became their least favorite.
It's actually pretty fucking easy, which is why I find it somewhat amusing the concept is so generally despised.
Here's the key to making a good DMPC/Prominent NPC- They never overshadow the PCs.
It's that simple.
Even if they would otherwise be capable in a fight, I go out of my way to keep them to one side- Have them in a side room fighting a smaller, weaker set of enemies than an individual PC could conceivably taken on, but ideally not a fighter at all.

What's the difference between a DMNPC and an NPC that the players like to keep around?
How do you feel about 5e's Advantage/Disadvantage system?

Once you break away, you don't look back.
A numerical bonus didn't feel important until it hit at least +4, and at high levels not until it hit +6 or even +8.
An extra roll always feels important.
