Hello Mr Brian Wilson. Like your masterpiece "Smile", a cricket game will take an extended period of time to complete. This means that the game is subject to variables that don't come into effect in any other sport in the world, including but not limited to:
>player stamina
>ball condition
>pitch condition
>changing weather and atmospheric conditions
In addition, cricket has significant complexity involved in the mechanics of the game. There are multiple different types of bowlers, each of which has dozens of variations that are used to trick a batsman into making a mistake. This coupled with the extended playing times makes cricket as much of a mental competition as it is a physical one.
Of course I've only scratched the surface of the depth of the game as I only have limited time, but I will be more than happy to answer any of your questions!

Benfica's choke always puts a smile on my face.
13/14 Liverpool is overrated. It's super memeworthy because he slipped after saying this does not slip but it wasn't as big of a choke that people make it out to be. They never had a commanding lead over City and there was almost no room for error.
11/12 United was much worse, they were up by something like 8 points with 6 games remaining
