It's guaranteed to not be Kinomod. Moderation on /a/ these days is minimal and shit.
>>
>>478097
It's a thread related to games that isn't about a specific video game. These were not uncommon on any board 5 years ago, and are still not common today - only difference is people whine about them and call them "reddit" on principle, resulting in the "no fun allowed" state of this site today that the moderation encourages.
>>
>>478102
Not him but you're pretty spot on there.
There's been massive leniency in the rules, but now jannies feel they should enforce them strictly, though seemingly at random.

I saw a thread on /co/ the other day saying "This board whomps". The keyword "whomps" being a key phrase from Recess and the show started getting discussed a bit. A bit of time later the thread was deleted, not archived but just deleted for what seemed like no reason.
Then you take a look at the catalog and there's far shitter threads or worse examples of posts that for some reason can just stay. It's stupid

I think Hiro himself said the other day that if there's something that breaks the rules on a board, he's fine with it as long as the users are content and it's not disturbing them in any way. The problem now is that everyone wants to either bitch, or pretend to bitch just to stir shit

No, but she is still very famous on the fandom as the one who created the fictional world and all its details, even after she was gone lots of her ideas served as base for other writers to improve and learn so a lot of people still give her credit for those things, even today fans still bother asking her opinions about the show since her original vision had so much potential and the final result was so different, they like to use her opinion as base to have an idea of how much the show improved or not

Potential situation developing on /mlp/.
A lot of the longstanding general threads and a lot of CYOAs there seem to be getting deleted like crazy with the OP's picking up bans for it. Also it seems like the place may have gone down to 7 pages somehow.
>>
>>479716

That'll be due to the deletions. If it has gone down to 7 pages, then it's either intense shitposting or Janitor has gone on a power trip again.
Sounds somewhat similar to The Scruffening in 2013. That said these are just my comments from your post and I haven't seen shit myself. Maybe because we're in Season now he feels the generals should go. Sort of makes sense really.

>>
>>479867
>Maybe the new janitors just got in

This arbitrary bullshit has been happening on all boards for about three years now. Moot didn't care, and neither does Hiro. The moderation doesn't care, and neither do the janitors. This is why /x/ is dead and literally cannot recover and why boards like /a/ are being narrowed down to an angry, serious, and no fun allowed limited range of topics for discussion.
>>
>>479843
Kinda related but this made me curious: Did anyone ever make a meido pony?
>>
>>479880
I'm aware of the other moderation issues that have been more persistent, but referring to this situation specifically is reminiscent of the last time new janitors apparently started and went a little heavy-handed on deletions. However, several of the users were getting bans so it might just be a rogue mod.

It's what's being discussed. The show was on hiatus, but last week Season 6 started. I think Janitor just up and decided he doesn't want them anymore, so he deleted them all. Something vaguely similar happened to /mlp/ in 2013 though this is quite tame in comparison.

Seems like something they would do, a lot of people hate how much space generals take including myself, but deleting the threads isn't gonna help, its easier to just let them die of irrelevance by being buried by show discussion like how it happened back when season 5 started

Also i decided to check the archive to see which threads got deleted and it seems most of the stuff was just prompts and pure shitposting, and by "pure shitposting" i mean the kind of shit that is neither generals or show discussion, just mindless garbage, not gonna say i agree with the hotpockets but i its not impossible that some people may have saw the missing pages and thought the content being deleted was worth it

except somehow the board still got over saturated by prompts, its the same shit with generals, the problem isn't the amount of shitposting, hugboxes etc, its the fact that there are just too many of these and some of them evolve into other generals which just fucks with show discussion that can barely catch on even outside hiatuses, instead of making 30 different threads about Anon fucking a horse on a different scenario people should have made a general for prompt requests a long time ago, we don't need 30 ongoing threads with just one writefag and 5 cocksuckers bumping it for an entire week

Literally. Is a hidden board where there aren't mods until hiro or a dev makes an AMA.

On the topic anyway, I think the guy is being fucking stupid. Why delete boards like a motherfucker, a lot of them werent off-topic or green-text bait.

I hope they remove the sticky soon, because gree-text bait wasn't even a problem. Most of the threads got ignored, and most of them don't get past 20 replies.

The biggest problem where I can see could be the need for a show discution general, or the generals themselves.
>>
>>480268

>>
>>480274
generals and prompts are related to each other m8, remember that we have at least 10 prompts per day, even if 8 of them get ignored 2 will still become generals which have a small chance of growing instead of quickly dying of irrelevance, and this without mentioning the amount of shitty prompts used as shitposting, like the "Hey anon, lets go to the church" Shimmer threads or the Nyxposting
>>
How do we know that the sudden nuking of /mlp/ won't happen in a similar fashion to other boards?
>>
>>480280
Like I said
The problem may be the generals themselves.
> 2 will still become generals which have a small chance of growing instead of quickly dying of irrelevance
Is kinda dumb getting rid of something that may end up turning into a general, rather than the general themselves.
>and this without mentioning the amount of shitty prompts used as shitposting, like the "Hey anon, lets go to the church" Shimmer threads or the Nyxposting
Those are just plain and simple shitposting. The format that they use is irrelevant.
>>
>>480287
that would be like the Somalian government trying to imitate Japan, different boards have different ticks, if this happening work on /mlp/ it doesn't mean it will work on /co/ or /int/
>>
>>480290
>Is kinda dumb getting rid of something that may end up turning into a general, rather than the general themselves.
I know what you mean, but this whole issue would not even happen if the morons who make these threads used the catalog, many of the generals we already have could easily be fused because of how similar they are, generals like the age play general are good because they cover a lot of stuff, there is no need for two different generals for /ss/ and old mares because the general works for both, this isn't always the case though and like i said, morons don't check the catalog and end up making threads anyway instead of just going to the general and requesting there, we don't need "anon fucks a horse" and "anon fucks a horse while wearing silly hats", and killing some of these prompts can help with forcing people to use the fucking catalog already and stop spamming the board with requests
>Those are just plain and simple shitposting. The format that they use is irrelevant.
You would be surprised, i've seem these kinds of threads reaching bump limit because some newfag writefag took them seriously and actually wrote green, making them stay longer than they originally would

Ok wait, so does this also mean that off-topic political and/or gossip shit will be banned too now? Because that becomes just as much of an issue when several threads are made to circlejerk over idealistic differences between /mlpol/ or drama-mongering faggots and some inconsequential idiot from the show or fandom with the loophole that it's remotely pony-related.
>>
>>480352
nope, they are still allowed, /k/ fags have gun threads, OS pony threads are basically /g/ shitposting, they are both allowed and so will /mlpol/ threads be even if they are really damn cancerous
>>

/k/ fags have gun threads, OS pony threads are basically /g/ shitposting
Here's the thing: those at least have images or discussion revolving around ponies, and I'm perfectly alright with Aryanne threads because it's literally about a pony. But shitposting about a staff expressing liberal views or what kind of dumb social issue shit they post about on social media is hardly pony-related. It's kind of along a similar line as e-celeb threads or actor gossip threads on /v/ and /tv/, respectively.

>>
>>480591
>How to fix /vg/:
You do it by nuking /vg/. You can't 'fix' generals. They are cancer by their nature on 4chan. The only real way to 'fix' /vg/ is to nuke it and put /vg/ back into /v/ without bringing the generals with it.

I'll be honest, I've only been browsing the board lightly ever since the hiatus, but constantly seeing low effort threads being made like that is kinda a turn off. Tell me, is it reallllly that much of a bad thing?

I have been browsing /mlp/ since 2013 and I have seen more low effort green bait recently. It didn't seem that it was going to last tho, and it wasn't even that bad. I only saw like 4 or 5 threads like that since the premier, and if it wasn't a cry for help for moderation, it obviously wasn't for a scruffening.

I am on the boat of believing that they hired a new mod, or someone went berserk and got their asses handed to hiro and now try to do damage control.

If they wanted to do changes, I bet they would have told us before (I mean, there is one mod posting weekly)

Generals are fucking cancer, but that is exactly how thread creation on 4chan works and always has. That with silly hat thread is a normal thread and if it wasn't a general and we didn't have generalfags, no one would bitch about it. Compressing threads isn't how 4chan works.

What's the post timer between making new threads on /v/ again?
>>
>>480764
10 minutes
>>
>>480267
The tolerance usually applies to pony threads. If you're in a pony thread/conversation you won't be banned for posting ponies. Of course, if they wanted to they could ban at any time since it is distinctly against the rules. It's a soft allowance.

And if it gets too bad, happens too much, it'll just be stepped on completely.
>>
>the entire thread is /v/ and /mlp/

>>
>>480788
Enjoy it while it lasts, 4chan has only two settings: nothing happening and everything going to shit.
>>
>>480792
Ain't that the truth, it's a boring site where people talk about stuff that interests them (and no one else), hence why we have such a shitposting epidemic: people hear about this 4chan being this zany place where users post LOL NIGGERS in all caps and are horribly dissapiointed, but refuse to fucking leave

Nah, that's not what crosschan raids are about, newfig. Back in the day you'd raid a chan's /b/ to demonstrate strength in numbers, since if you can wipe a chan's /b/, you can wipe any board.

Sigh. Link Gematsu. Siliconera is a site that very slowly copies the exact text of every Gematsu article and reports it as their own. It's basically Kotaku, from when Kotaku's main problem was that it was slow and not that the journalism took an absolutely awful tilt.
>>
>>482184
There's no EO5 article so far in that place though.

It's literally from an entire week ago. That is how long Siliconera waited before REPOSTING the fucking article. They probably thought people would assume it was news since they couldn't find it on any other site. Even though the reason is because it is OLD NEWS.

That is what a FUCKING STUPID site Siliconera is. Please cease supporting them immediately.

>>
>>482280
You can make threads on /a/. Over the past few months I've reposted hundreds of old threads from the archives, word for word op and same image. The autists are on auto-pilot over there to the point that none of the threads were deleted and the same retards came flooding into them with almost word for word the same inane posts and mindless arguments over fuck knows what. It's the preferred and accepted posting style of Americans.
My guess is that ausfag anons on /v/ weren't aware that you aren't allowed to post anything outside of the /v/ hivemind and mods had to put a swift end to it. Can't have the /v/ermin becoming self aware. This isn't an issue on /a/ because /a/utists will never be able to achieve that.

The name generator seems to have given the name "Dana White" to a poster on /heem/, which is a thread for UFC/MMA. Dana White is the President of the UFC so it's quite the coincidence.

Any of you seen any other instances of this? Name being relevant to a board or thread?

It's not the same though, since tripfags will still behave like tripfags. They will still derail threads with their faggotry and people replying telling them to stop tripping. Unless everyone started using forced anon, it won't make a difference in your experience if you do it.
>>
>>>/int/57213932
>>483579
Morons will be morons, in a perfect world tripfags would simply be ignored, people who get triggered by names are as dumb as people who get triggered by reaction images like frogs and horses, by bitching, hell, by acknowledging its existence you're giving the attention whore exactly what it want, it doesn't matter how loud and obnoxious they are because they are still just a minority of people, but unfortunately some people go apeshit and give shitposters more ammo and attention whores a way to become "internet famous"
>>
>>>/a/139414673
What kind of name is that?
>>
>>483586
Got the same on /int/, does anyone know if the archives can save the randomized names?
>>
>>483585
All he said was that Anonymize isn't the same as the current random names, which is correct. Removing trip functionality completely != a single user anonymizing.
No need to go into a big spiel Dustin.

>>483593
The names are on desu.
>>
>>483594
My point was that the problem lies on people rather than the feature itself, trips can be really damn useful when they need to be, but they will remain being a problem as long as there are people there to make a big deal out of them, i dunno, maybe making trips randomized like IDs would help
>>
>>483602
If you remove the feature you remove the problem.
>>
>>483603
if you remove the feature they will just move to avatar fagging and you know that well
>>

>>
>>483604
Avatar fagging is against the rules and they can be banned. They can also be impersonated.

>>483563
>>>/r9k/27552602

>Avatar fagging is against the rules and they can be banned
Which isn't the case for every board, and trusting the moderation's personal moral compass is never a good idea, specially when we have people who get banned for avatar fagging while all they did was use the same reaction image of a character more than once
>They can also be impersonated
They also can't be filtered or told apart, which means anyone can false flag pretending to be them, and trust me, you will not want 2-3 people spamming a thread like this
>>
>>483623
>Which isn't the case for every board
I don't care about your shitty board.
