Shaft did the story right. But the CGI if you call it that was kinda off putting but I like the anime parts of it quite a bit.

They never finished the series because that was right before Tokyopop went under. The English version wasn't great, but it wasn't so bad that it itself was the reason.
They moved the flashback chapter to the front, because there was no surprise Kino was a girl since they had to use pronouns where they were neutral in the original Japanese. Also most of the illustrations were removed or altered to black and white. Translation was spot on, though.
