To be fair, both islands have different histories which greatly influenced their outcomes.
Haiti's experience lead them to be hostile toward western countries and vice versa. This prevented Haiti from adopting a pro western culture attitude.
DR it was completely different. Their history caused them to have a self hating attitude towards being black. They despised anything that they viewed as negro culture. Their desire to be white allowed for a more adopting attitude towards western culture.
