I hope we get a proper S2 BD patch from Commie. at some point. Of the current ones on nyaa, both use a severely bloated rip as the source as well as being essentially unmodified scripts from the TV versions, with plenty of errors and bad typesetting. One of them didn't even mux the right fonts in!

I've spent a few years away form this place. Recently I acquired a rather high-end gaming PC, and I'm wondering if you have any recommendations for good mecha-themed PC games.
Already tried out Hawken, though to be honest I was a bit disappointed how FPS-like it was; from the original trailer it seemed much more of a "mech sim."
Any game in particular you guys recommend?

There seems to be a couple greenlit ones on steam but there's no torrents yet so i dunno if they're any good, depends how good your pc is, only ps2 emulators really depend on a high grade pc and the ps2 has some of the best mecha games (in usa at least) like zeonic front.

Beyond all the other issues with the show the one thing that really bugged me about SEED Destiny was Kira's apparent decision to do jack all after SEED. What was all that shit he talked at the end of SEED about the future and believing in people but then he goes and sits on his ass and lets the world go to shit while he plays house with a pop star. Amuro was placed under house arrest and under constant government watch so he really couldn't become a dynamic figure for change, but the fuck was Kira's excuse?
Politics too fucking hard. Rather get not laid by Lacus.

Any reason for that? Seems to have some solid Gundam designs and I'm told the protagonist is 'pretty cool' for a Gundam protag.
Here at /m/, we often talk at length about the pedantic topic of how a giant robot could realistically be made. I don't want one to be made. It could never match my imagination.
And so I ask, what is the most unrealistic thing that has ever been done in a mecha show, and how can we make mecha shows even more unrealistic?
It's a lot harder to define "unrealistic" than "realistic".
You can just throw out every single rule and just have a plot of random events, is this less realistic?

This. I mean, what's unrealistic? Merging all realities together into a single one with a big bomb? Throwing galaxies around as weapons? Cutting through the Solar System's planets with a huge axe?
Hell, there's even been cases of giant robots playing with their inherent fictional nature. I'd like to see one reject its fictional status and burst from the animation cell/screen and into reality as a natural progression of the plot.

I wouldn't say so. Having the impossible happen in an at least semi-coherent fashion is more unrealistic than it happening at random, in my opinion. I really enjoy shows like Gunbuster for something like that. There's a show that tries its hardest to make absolute nonsense sound vaguely plausible and place it inside the context of the story unfolding.
