Star Wars spares no expense in making any sides involved in belligerent actions as morally unambiguous as possible - you have the squeaky clean Rebels, and then you have the Empire that destroys planets, subjugates and occasionally massacres civilian populations, names its roving superweapon installation 'Death Star', and emulates Nazi fashion almost to a tee.
That being said - do you reckon, perhaps in the style of TIE Fighter where Imps are somehow portrayed as enforces of peace in a turbulent galaxy, that something could be made involving the Empire that doesn't involve them being murderous and colossal asshats?
Think it's a bit too late for the same possibility to be floated for the First Order, considering.

I played it today. If you're coming into this thinking that it's just like the previous VS games, then you'll be disappointed. the lack of arcade mode and free battle mode pretty much made the amazon.jp comment section explode yesterday. But if you look at it as a totally different game, it's actually really good. Bandai naming this Extreme Versus is bad marketing. still, I'm having a blast playing this game. I'm expecting a shit ton of Bandai Namco localizations next year like SAO, God Eater etc and I like Bandai's new strategy of giving you guys over there in the West their AAA titles

If Getter Robo was all I had access to as a child in terms of anime I probably would become one of those crazy fanboys, but thankfully I had access to anime from very early on in my youth years that my mental balance is very stable.
Seriously, if you have watched Mobile Suit Gundam, you'd realize just how sophisticated mecha anime is and it blows away anything Getter would have to offer.
A lot of people mention Neon Genesis Evangelion, which has just enough of sexuality in the mix to draw in the western audience I suppose but I must say that NGE is not even in my top 10 mecha anime, not even close, that's just how deep the world of anime is.
Some mecha anime is so disturbingly mature like Ideon that I wish it would challenge the system and submit it as a Drama category in the Oscars just to bitchslap the snotty Academy.
It's not just the level of maturity and sophistication mecha anime has, it's also quite original, entertaining, and visually fantastic. I would regard anime as the highest form of cinema art-form.
But hey, me preaching about mecha anime won't do you any good, you gotta go out and see it for yourself just how much you are missing.
The recent one I would recommend to check out is Gundam Build Fighters which is light and easy to get into robot anime for the first time yet appreciate it as much, but if you want the heavy stuff right off the line check out Cross Ange in which the plot is so complex and twisted that you'll need extra oxygen pumped into your brain in order to comprehend everything, and if you want amazing visuals and a gripping drama that also has awesome mecha battles Iron Blooded Orphans is the shit.
Seriously, if you know mecha anime like I do, Getter Robo looks like it's something for little kids.

So I just starting watching Evol and holy shit Mikono is the absolute worst.
Not only is she constantly whining about everything, but she doesn't even shake Zessica's hand and just leaves her hanging.

No, she gets worse. And so does Zessica, who falls in love with Amata after about 6 or 7 episodes and then throws everything good about her personality out the window to fawn after him in the most ridiculous and shitty manner possible. The side characters make up for it for a while, but around the half way point even they stop being entertaining enough to make it worth while. I'd just stop watching and find something better if I were you. It's in no way worth it.

Finally finished this after slacking off for over a year, and if I had to describe this show in one phrase, it would be "Turn A-like."
It was a fun show and I enjoyed it, but it also had a lot of Tomino-isms that detracted from it. He has an annoying habit of writing dialogue in a really obtuse way that, while you can understand it through context, does sometimes force you to pause and go back a few times. He also really likes to have important events happen off-screen (Kashiba Mikoshi being captured and abandoned, similar things happened in Victory and ZZ), which can be really weird if you're used to being shown everything. And I'm not sure I liked the idea of multiple sides all trying to trick, join forces, and take over each other, which I suppose was the whole point, but the one thing it did pretty well was showing how the fog of war can screw things up really hard (nobody has all the information, so when one side commits an act based on faulty information, it's misunderstood by the next side, which cascades into epic fuckups). Also, a lot of the deaths felt random and sudden, as if Evil Tomino had returned; more of the deaths felt more senseless than they did in Turn A, but not so cruel and unusual as in Victory or Zeta.
The ending felt really abrupt and lacked closure, but it wasn't deal-breaking. I won't say that this is anti-war Gundam done right, but it certainly does it better than every other entry after Turn A. Tomino wasn't afraid to take the focus away from the giant robot fights and show how bad it is for the soldiers themselves to try to become soldiers, and things that are taken for granted in other Gundam shows are portrayed as not so simple (again, the fog of war thing). Overall, it felt like Turn A Lite, which could be explained as the show being 26 episodes instead of 50, and it isn't quite nearly as majestic but was still a good change of pace from pretty much every other mecha show.
