Pretty sure Char's was only salmon pink and not a deeper red in the first place because there was an abundance of that ink around at the time and they were looking to save money anywhere they could so I've no problem with that. I wouldn't have a problem with it anyways, because it'd look better regardless of what the original did.

What happened to MSIA?
Became a dodo due to a lot of reasons, though one is the collapse of the gundam market here in the US back in about 2004~2005.
Most American kids only bought action figures and back then Bandai flooded the market with them in response. However as with all fads, the demand died quickly while the supply was overwhelming and what happened is that you had a SHITLOAD of figures sitting in shelves and inventory.
Couple that with poor DVD and VHS sales and it helped nail the coffin for most of Bandai America in mid 2000's.
It got replaced with Robot Damashii.

Let's have a thread that's not (exactly) about Gundam.
There are already lots of Gundam threads, right? But there's a reason for that which isn't often mentioned: its portrayal of conflict. Sure there were other robot shows before Gundam, but do any of them make such an effort to show bad people on the "good" side, good people on the "bad" side, and the circumstances that lead to desperate motivations? Here we are 37 years later and people still argue over whether the war was justified, where the line between "acts of war" and "war crimes" should be drawn, and whether the villain was ultimately right or the hero was misguided by blind faith.
Has anyone even been as far as to defend Dr Hell's point of view? Has anyone ever argued that Shotaro's way was wrong? That Basara was imposing his will on the world? Will anyone speak in defense of Refless? Of the Zor Lords? Will no one point the finger at Keline Sandman for the destruction of Selias and Lambdas when he thoughtlessly destroyed the only means of controlling his brother's murderbots?

Who the hell wrote this? Visually, it's very reminiscent of Go Nagai. It could very well be Nagai, except for the differences in character design for Akira. It's really lighthearted compared to even the lighthearted parts of the original series or Shin. In fact, atmospherically, it feels like I'm reading Mazinger Z... which leads me further to believe it's not Nagai, considering that none of Mazinger's spin-offs really feel like Mazinger Z. But, again, one of the first things you see is Michiru's rack, and MAL lists the writer as Go Nagai, but I'm not sure and can't into kanji.
Also, it's pretty damn good. Huge breath of fresh air after Arc.
