A boy falls in love with a girl.

Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

Kakuranger's great if you want to continue the ninja theme, plus it's a nice series on it's own.

Sun Vulcan I always recommend because it's fantastic and what got me into Sentai in the first place.

Liveman and Jetman are good if you want something that's a tad more serious. Just a tad though, it's still sentai.

You fail to understand OP, just as I did when I first watched CCA.

Char doesn't seem to have a chance. His mech is damaged horrifically, his plans are likely to fail (by this point Amuro made it both in and out of Axis, so he knew something was up), and he's lost some of his most valuable tools on the battlefield.

At this stage, Char has his pride and his concept of honor left. Nothing more. He has lived and fought for nearly two decades, a feeling of inadequacy brewing and questions constantly grinding on him of his own skill. Amuro has beaten him, but the circumstances and the conditions at play each time make him think that perhaps, in this moment, this critical, history altering moment, things can be different.

He wants to win. His ego refuses to allow him to even think otherwise. He HAS to win, for Lalah, who would've been the unconditionally supportive loving figure he saw a mother as being (as the Origin shows us, Char's mom was only a mother to Artesia, not him), for his ideals, and for the sake of himself.

Nanai he sees as ruining this climax of his life, his final battle, his duel to the death, for better or worse, by giving Amuro an excuse for victory. "If Nanai hadn't shelled the Nu Gundam and damaged it, you wouldn't have won" is the thought he just KNOWS will permanently take residence in his head, evicting "If White Base hadn't supported him and the Gundam wasn't so much more advanced than my mechs were, I would have won," the thought that terrifies him now. This memory is one he assumes lurks in Amuro's mind, too. After all, Char knows better than anyone the mental gymnastics done when you lose to a superior machine (he did it over and over again).

Pride and a desire to achieve his ultimate victory as unaided as possible. That is what you see here, OP. That's what makes this beautiful.

At this point she's fully willing to send Tekkadan to their deaths if it means meeting her goal, which is the deregulation of half-metals and Chryse's independence.

The other two kept themselves at an arms length from that sort of thing and advocated peace while ignoring the show of force and deaths needed to achieve and maintain that peace.
