Are the Macross Variable Fighter designs actually viable?

Its pretty likely.
The VF-25 is pretty much a flanker with variable sweep wings. If the flanker and its variants can fly, why can't it? Giving it bigger tail fins would probably help, I think those are a little too small.

The main issue is structural strength. The planes are physically modelled after real life aircraft, the issue is that the transformation requirements leave the chassis heavily weakened and not plausible with modern materials. The planes would disintegrated under stress.
The excuse in Macross is that they used reverse-engineered alien technology to build the VFs.

I remember watching this shit back then. In fact I wasn't able to find him until recently because I always thought his name was Poseidon. It was weird, from what I remembered he gets launched into battle through a tank or truck. And I think he fights dinosaurs.
When I was a kid, I watched a shitton of toku in VHS. I don't remember most of them.
I guess Cybercop is not really obscure, but is all I really remember that are not from a mainstream series (sentai, rider or metal heroes).

Ok /m/ I'm fucking helpless on my own. I keep looking for stuff to watch and it ends up being shit. I started watching gundam reconguista in g by ep 5 I dropped it. Finished pic related only cuz I was watching it with my bro but I was dredging the 2nd season. I'm watching IBO only cuz idk what's good to watch. And even that is wearing out its welcome. So help me out recommend me some good robot cartoons.
