Explain the plot of RahXephon to me /m/.
>>14202913
Same as Evangelion really.
There was rape in it i guess
A dumb kid fights aliens from another dimension as part of the backdrop for discovering who he actually is and who the people around him are. There's a government conspiracy (I think?) and something about clones, but none of it is given much explanation and overall it makes very little sense. At the end, there's people ascending to a higher plane of existence and screaming rainbow coloured visible soundwaves until the world becomes harmonious (read: how the dumb kid wants it to look). Afterwards, fans of christmas cakes rejoiced, only to leave mildly disappointed that...

Treize was wrong, drones are a good thing. This is a thread about the merits and flaws of remote and/or autonomous weaponry.
Making war into a video game is not a good thing. Drone operators do not feel pain or fear when they enter the battlefield. The only thing they may feel is adrenaline and the dopamine in their brains when they score a kill. This means they enjoy killing.
It is terror.
>>14202651
Just hook up the drone users to something like IBOs Alaya Vijnana or whatever it's called. Boom, instant simulation of being the drone.
>>14202651
Isn't it reported that the sheer disconnect between killing a person and being so goddamn fair away in safe control rooms actually really fucks them up?
>Getter Robo is immortal
Do you agree with this sentiment, /m/? Is Getter such a great series that it will truly never die, or is he delusional and stupid?
The only works that aren't timeless are the ones that root themselves too much in the time they were written.
The manga Pluto, while very good, is not timeless because a giant part of the backstory is a parallel to the War on Terror, and the Iraq War specifically. In a decade its relevance will have been out of the collective conciousness.
>>14202318
Today I went on an image board and learned that Apocalypse Now is not timeless because it's about Vietnam.
>>14202335
It's not actually about Vietnam though, considering its source material. The Vietnam part is completely superficial.
Do you guys have any fun memories of mecha from your youth?
I remember when I was 5 I used to go to blockbuster with my uncle and everytime I'd always pick out the transformers movie with whatever else we got
>>14202120
Sure do. I wonder if I owe my interest in /m/ to Gendy Tartakovsky?
>>14202136
>Gendy Tartakovsky
that episode was pretty fun, probably one of my faves along with the one where he made a new robot and it malfunctioned
Beast Wars/Beast Machines, man. That 3D blew my mind at the time.
He is cute.
I think we should all appreciate how amazing and precious he is.
>>14201846
He's certainly a "special" child.
>>14201839
Blue-haired males a cute.

A great description of what this manga is like.
ITT: Poorly received anime that are actually pretty good.
Recently I've been watching lowly rated /m/ anime to see if they're actually as bad as the ratings suggest and just finished Big Wars. The reviews for it and the ratings for it are incredibly negative and low. I seriously can't figure out why.
The animation, character designs, direction, mechanical designs, and story are consistently decent - very good. Everything looks great, the pacing is good, there's some fun horror elements and plenty of excitement. The characters are also surprisingly...

It's just pretty forgettable, is all. You should try something like Divergence Eve next, OP.

You're a big war

Maybe if I wanted to kill myself from the awful CG
What is the best head shape for a mech?
>>14200242
No head, it's just a target that cripples you if you lose it.
>>14200242
The visor is actually a faceplate over the sensor head which is a cover for the Gundam head which was secretly a protected Brave head which is destroyed to reveal a monoeye.
Hey /m/, /tg/ here. I've started to collect gunpla and I'm curious what kind of ways there are too fight them are. You can't tell me you have all these cool models and no way to battle!
>>14199545
no, there are no tabletop rules
>>14199555
There are a couple of tabletop games that you could theoretically use gunpla as for markers/miniatures/things (Mekton Zeta comes to mind) but no, they're for fun.
Unless you want GUNPURA BATORU
>>14199567
Not that fa/tg/uy, but is MZ any good? I've been exposed to it a little through a quest, and it seems pretty fun.

>Haruka is adopted
Well that answers my question from last week.
It was cool to see some Agito-style Spidey senses in Haruka and apparently Jin's girlfriend as well?
So, how about that blue register?
A bit of a tamer/slower episode than usual, though it set shit up I guess
What the hell is the point of having a sniper guy on the extermination team if he never snipes shit, seeing him just point at amazons but not do anything every episode is making him seem especially lame
>Gatchaman, Casshan, Polymar Holy Blood, Tekkaman Blade
>there was no Time Bokan 90's OVA that is full of edginess
why
Time Bokan is way too wacky for that (even in Yoru no Yatterman, that had some silliness). Also, the franchise was somewhat active at that point via video games, radio dramas, and that Hissatsuman OVA that's not acknowledged by Tatsunoko.
I can't even imagine that. Even Yoru no Yatterman was full of goofy stuff, despite looking really bleak.
>>14196709
I wonder why Tekkaman Blade is the only 90s Tatsunoko show that's had lasting influence.
I've been told that if I didn't like SEED, I won't like Code Geass.
Is this true, /m/? I've been thinking about starting Geass for a while now, but lordy lord, do I hate me some SEED.
>>14196347
They are nothing alike.
That said, SEED itself really isn't as bad as people on /m/ would like to pretend.
>>14196347
Code Geass is worse than SEED, so if you can't bring yourself to enjoy SEED then stay away from CG.
>>14196347
Code Geass is very melodramatic.
You might enjoy it for the cuhrazy things unless you become that part of the fandom who genuinely think that this is some deep political story with Lelouch as strategical genius.

The suffering never stop.;_;Kanon is going to die next, isn't she?

The suffering of being a Kamen Rider is immense.
What was so great about that vase that McQuavie had to dedicate his last words to it?

This one actually looks kinda promising
Trailer was nice.
The space sections were the best thing about Ghosts, so I'm cautioisly optimistic.
Mecha and space battles look cool but I doubt they'll be a big focus.
And yet again, it looks like they're using bullets. Still. Where are my fucking beam rifles?
>>14184761
I'm sure there will be a couple of energy weapons.
