Hey, /m/. I'm working my way through the Godzilla movies in order (watched Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster yesterday), and that's going great, but I'd like to mix things up a bit. Gamera is coming after Godzilla. Already watched both Rodan and Mothra. I've also already watched The Host and Pacific Rim.
What I'd like is recommendations for non-Godzilla, non-Gamera kaiju films from the past ten years or so. Some kind of big production would be great, but indie shit is fine if it's well-done for its budget and tells an interesting story.

Human Revolution was a decent game, but had an atrocious story. I dislike all the conspiracy shit though, so I get the feeling Deus Ex just isn't for me. Even the gameplay, which had a focus on "play your way" was unbalanced, since sneaking around and taking out enemies one at a time was more rewarding than simply mowing them down.

Why do people put Gundam on a pedestal and place it above everything else in the genre? Nobody places Gundam above everything else on /m/. It's just that Gundam is a core /m/ franchise and one of the most popular, if not the most popular. it's kinda like Star Wars for SF in general. Also, there's genuinely good stuff in Gundam, like 0079, Zeta and X.

I mean, some parts of it are somewhat well-animated. But in its entirety, it pretty much sucks massive amounts of dick, and you all know it. Otherwise you wouldn't waste half of the board's bandwidth discussing how much you hate it.
So, here's an idea: why not stop watching it altogether?
I mean, I know it can be fun to circlejerk about how much something sucks, I do it sometimes, but you shouldn't have to subject yourself to hours upon hours of meandering stories with dumb, mostly unattractive characters who do nothing that makes sense while piloting robots that are RARELY as beautiful as those of other series. I guess Char is pretty cool but he alone can't justify wading through all that shit, can he? Especially since most of the franchise doesn't even feature him.
So let's just stop. No more gundam, alright?
