No, I sort of see what you're trying to get at with that slightly visor-ish looking part but I don't truly see it. No matter how I look at it, that's a foot or a shoe. It would not make a decent head.

Assuming unicorn won't be going full SOREDEMO mode
It's gonna be pretty even,however the beam Magnus can for more shots than the add and at a higher rate.
Also the Unicorn has the advantage in melee and could severely cripple the wing's extra maneuverability by clipping its wings/binders as it did to the Kyshatriya.
Also the Unicorn has a way wider arsenal to use against the wing, unless we're going by its standard beam rifle,shield,battling gun and sabres.

Say what you will about Macross, but you cannot deny that the VF-1 is the pinnacle of all transforming mecha. Modularity, functionality, aesthetics- it has the perfect balance of all three.

Where is the Ghost X-9 from Plus? Wasn't it the best fucking drone ever? Why aren't they being deployed with thousands of units.

Their sector of the galaxy is the equivalent of some fly-over state like Minnesota.
Its why you see them use VF-171's as their main VF. Presumably they're too poor/irrelevant to get the cool drones.
That said, there's still 20 something episodes for drones to show up.
