Here be a Zero thread
You know what nobody ever talks about when it comes to Zero? The plot. The most I ever hear talk about Zero (the few times it comes up) is some of the fights, Roy and when it gets referenced in later series. So I'm gonna bring up something about Zero in an attempt for conversation. I'll admit, I'm mainly making this thread because I was on Macross World and one guy was trying to separate the Macross series into like different sides even though I feel all of them are intentionally different from one another and expansions on the universe, anyway.
Why the fuck is this always compared to Plus? Is it because they're OVAs? Plus is like a side incident to explain why they don't just have automated jets do everything and doesn't affect much. But Zero is really important for the lore of Macross. It's not even the same kind of story. Zero explores the disparity between militarization and modern times vs. traditional island culture. It has a very much larger story for the implications of the Macross world. It's lead goes through a small character arc. It's a really full series of stuff (though it doesn't transition between scenes that well). But I feel it gets demoted because there's slightly more focus on the mecha compared to the TV series.
On that note, I always found Zero very "okay". It's a middle of the road series. Not that great but also not that bad. Really it's quite underrated but I can kind of understand why not that many people have seen it. Also, for reasons said above I like it quite a deal more than Plus.Mao best girl

I like it though admittedly because I was an Ace Combat fan and a sucker for planes. It was pretty okay but it could be better. One thing I give it props to is making me care a bit for a dying Kenichi Suzumura love interest. Other times like SEED Destiny and Scwarzesmarken I didn't feel anything. I feel that the story could've been expanded upon like a further explanation to the Birdmen and the anti-UN's final goal. Also, the parts where the CG and hand drawn animation switch is pretty jarring.
Opinions over this strange gasoil mecha car wacky post-apocaliptic anime?

Tripod shield probably beats the plasma gun. But Gipsy fist beats tripod. I'd say Gipsy would win against several tripods.

Well, we've seen the Tripods' shields withstand the standard weaponry, can't recall if they tried nuking them in the movie. I wonder if a stronger weapon like Jaegers' plasma caster would whittle down the shield eventually.
Even then, the shield doesn't seem to work against living beings and non-explosive objects. Jaegers could just approach them and punch the fuck out of them (or even stomp them, judging by the scale the Tripods are at least half as tall as Jaegers).

Just finished watching CCA
Can someone help me understand what happened here?
Was it the Nu Gundam's psycho-frame overheating because of Amuro, Char, and the soldiers that came to push axis, or was it because of the will of humanity or some shit like that?
Was Lalah involved in any way, since their final words were about Lalah being a mother figure?
Was Amuro's and Char's feud purposely left opening and inconclusive like that to have the viewer come up with their own interpretations, or is their a direct reason/conclusion to the feud?Or is Tomino a hack?
What was the point of Hathaway and Quess?
They were practically copies of Katz and Puru.
Where were Sayla and Kamille during all this?
Kamille doesn't matter as much, but Sayla had such a strong connection to Char's narrative that it was sin to not include her in Char's conclusion.

The Feud is left open because feuds don't have clean conclusive meanings. I would say Amuro won though. He beats the Sazabi and stops Axis.
Hathaway and Quess are a contrast to the "adults are ebil" Tomino stuff in my mind. They show that while kids are humanitys future, they need guidance and can be manipulated. See: Hathaway thinking with his dick, and Char using Quesses daddy issues to make her a soldier.

So here we go:
Technically he can't be lying because he is not replying to the question if he has ever betrayed anyone but responding to another person's opinion that he has betrayed someone.Thus he is also providing his private opinion.Opinions can't be lies since they represent someone's personal point of view and not the objective reality.
Nevertheless,as it is,his assessment strikes me as fairly correct.
This of course would depend on one's interpretation of the term "betrayal" with may vary from person to person,which further demonstrates my point.
What was wrong with AGE? I really like the mech designs, but I wanna know what's so bad about it.
Pacing and character development are a mess from the second generation onwards. I agree the mech designs are pretty sweet though, especially on the Feddie's side.

It was ambitious but rubbish in terms of story.
Going through three generations of the same family was good on paper but sucked in execution.
