i want to build a gun (.22lr) smg
what would i need all? i dont live in usa so its not illegal for you to help me, that for the boardrules.
i was thinking to start first with the receiver and as a barrel i use the same steel they use for hydraulics. what do you think.?
>>29709547
to make an accurate gun, a trick they use in the industry is to let the bullet make the hole at the muzzle end.
Basically you drill out most of the barrel, but leave the very end of it in tact. Then you install it on the gun, and fire off a round. Bullet hits the end, and makes a perfect bullet sized hole.

Do this OP, it's a lot easier than machining the entire way through.
Since there is a current lack of "are carriers obsolete" posts today I thought I'd try and open discussion on the worlds third largest carrier class, The Queen Elizabeth.
While we all know it's garbage as a Super Carrier without nuclear power and the lack of CATOBAR has meant she wont have any aircraft until the F-35B is ready.
Instead of calling her a Super Carrier she should have been classified as a Super Amphibious Assault ship, this is especially relevant given the British Ministry of Defences recent news that one of the carriers will be "upgraded" to better carry out the role of amphibious assaults!
Instead of a "money saving" super carrier which is barely more than an embarrassment to the Royal Navy as they are forced to pretend it's matching the US carriers she would become -the- top tier of her role, a huge notable step up from the America class and fit into a more fitting place in history, for herself and the Royal Navy.

Why didn't those mother fuckers just get Maersk to produce them 20-30 supercarriers built to commercial standards.

Like this except without the bridge in the middle, giving you a 1400 ft flight deck, more than sufficient to operate STOL aircraft off it.
If emals catapults are ever reduced in cost, then they could be included as well.
I believe they estimated 400 million for one of these ships.

The OP was a meme.
Hey, /k/.
I just got this beautiful Damascus steel knife, but I'm pretty new to the upkeep and I sharpened it too much. I found out you're supposed to sharpen it with two strokes and I sharpened it 10 times on every part of my Lansky sharpening device.
Will I have damaged or taken much of the blades lifeline?
It's going to take a lot more than that to damage a knife. What you've done is make it sharp. Congratulations. Now it can cut things again.
>>29709515
Oh god! You have sharpened it too much! It might have even been in danger of getting sharp enough to use as more than pocket jewelry! God forbid!
KILL YOUR SELF YOU MASSIVE FAGGOT
>>29709576
I got it for a camping and hiking expedition I'm going on soon. I know it's a little flashy but it was the best quality knife I found that conforms with the UK's specifications for legal carry. Killing myself now, with my broken butter knife.
Are Charter Arms revolvers any good? Would you carry one of these?
>>29709441
I found a fucked up one in a ditch by my house once
my old boss carries one and swears by it. He loads it with .44 Special wadcutters because he thinks it'll cut nice little circles in people. And this guy owns dozens of nice Smiths and Colts. I don't think he's ever used it besides the time he pulled it on a nigger in Buffalo and made him shit his pants.

So I know about the experimental night vision from late WWII and the stuff from the Cold War you can sometimes buy and that's mostly from the 80s but not much about the stuff inbetween. How much was it used during Korea or Vietnam?

No. Hillarys 2 terms and a democratic congress will most likely see cali/NY laws put in place nation wide as well.
This era is not the rise of gun rights, but their fall. The sooner you come to grips with that fact the better.

I thought better of you.
Got a jungle carbine a week ago and only shot it today.
The bore looks good to me but for some reason the bullets are keyholing.
I recovered three bullets (fired into a block of wood) and two are smooth as fuck - the ones recovered sideways - while the third has some visible rifling marks but entered at an angle instead of completely sideways - it was mangled enough that I couldn't get a good picture.
I'm going to swage the barrel tomorrow and take measurements. Any suggestions for what it could be?
>>29709183
Probably the crown.
>>29709183
I also measured the bullets before firing. THey're exactly 0.311 inches.
>>29709187

may need to be recrowned. or, it was shot with corrosive ammo but never cleaned properly
Would raising children from birth to become soldiers make for better soldiers, like what the spartans did?
If yes, why don't we do it today?
>>29709061
Because the Spartans were an uncivilized military state
>>29709093
that doesn't answer the question
>>29709061
>why don't we do it today?
Free country. Do whatever you want.
Is a nugget still considered a good first bolt-action rifle? If not, is it another milsurp rifle or something new made like a Ruger or a Savage?
something new is better if you give zero shits about history and want optics
ammo for most bolt action milsurp is on the highside
>>29708995
Ruger American and savage axis are now much better bets if you don't plan on using the gun as a hammer, aside from having better triggers and bolts, the price and availability of 54r is getting closer to the point where it's not even worth it to put up with corrosive bullshit
>>29709018
>history
Not many people are interested in the history of guns that sat in a storage crate for 70 years
It's passable if you're poor, but a Savage Axis or Ruger American is way better.
If you just want to plink casually with something that gives a mighty boom, go for it, but if you want something more practical, look at something modern.
Know that when you buy a 91/30, it's been clumsily refurbished by an inbred conscript and has been sitting in a warehouse for several decades, it's cheap but it's also a project, you'll likely have to scrub out the old cosmoline (a lot of people fail to do a thourough job at this), and a common issue...

Hello there folks.
I am in the market for an "assault" rifle.
I enjoy simplicity and reliability. Something that needs very minimal maintenance and is going to work when I need it to.
Furthermore I do not need any rail system for scopes, or red dots, or fancy lasers. I will not be using them. Iron sights are good enough for me.
My budget is around 1K
>>29708718
assualt rifle?

Yes. That is what the cool kids call them isn't it?
