Hello fellow /k/ommandos,
I'd like to draw your attention to a disturbing pattern regarding the general quality of the posts here in the last month or two. I've noticed that there has been a complete lack of technical or educational threads and material recently. The vast majority of threads have been fantasy, anti gun, humor, etc related. It's good to have fun every so often, but there is little information that can be gained by browsing /k/ these days.
To put this in perspective, I began browsing about 2 years ago. Prior to that I was nogunz and did not have a clue about firearms. I now own close to 20 guns and feel comfortable in my knowledge of calibers, manufacturers, and so on. Everything I know about guns came from this board. In its current state, I don't think a nogunz who comes here for the first time can be offered the same opportunity. Let's please try to clean things up a bit and return to the former state where you could learn, not just be entertained.
TLDR: focus more on education and less on basic entertainment.

Every forum and image board went south the minute social media became a huge thing. I used to post on several forums and boards but all now have very little traffic and the content has decreased in quality, /k/ is no different.

Do we still have an active CMP group? I bought an M1 in 2013 through the old group but I believe my membership has expired. Any recommendations to renew my membership? I'm in the CA area if that matters. Trying to get some surplus on the relatively cheap as I haven't been able to shoot my Garand in a while.

I am currently waiting for a service grade that was ordered in mid February. CMP still has rifles but field and service grades are on backorder while the armorers are working on building up their stock. If you want a special grade, those are shipping much faster with a 2 week turnaround approximately. Sorry op, don't know about the old /k/ garand group
Hey guys, I've seen this gun posted in a few collections, but I've never seen a thread on it. I was wondering your opinions on the tristar S-120 (or L-120, canik 55, etc). It's a turkish clone of the cz 75 and all the reviews I've seen say it's a damn fine gun, even having a better finish than the original. Can anyone who owns one tell me a bit about it? Any pitfalls or issues that come over time? Seems hard to beat a CZ 75 with two 17 rd mec gar mags for $380. I've got the cash in hand for a CZ 75, but if I can save $200 and get a better finish, why would I not?
Also I know the grips are shit. I've already got replacements if I go this route

for awhile when the were 300 bucks there were hordes of canik supporters shilling them but they seem to have vanished completely. which is odd youd think at least one of them would have stuck around bragging about his 2k+ round count and how its still better than the cz for half the price

VL Pyörremyrsky ("Whirlwind"/"Hurricane") was ordered in 1942, it was intended as a domestic fighter with similar performance to Bf-109, the only prototype to be built flew 35 times & proved to fullfill the requirements set for it, but by the time it was finished the war had ended & Finland was under obligation to reduce the strength of its military, leading to cancellation of various projects as planes had to be scrapped & FiAF wanted to play safe by keeping proven designs instead of funding risky developement programs for new aircraft while scrapping perfectly good aircraft (this came to bite FiAF in the ass as the Messerschmitts started to fall apart by early '50s as their airframes had never been intended to be flown as long as FiAF had used them, and there were no replacements airframes nor spare parts to be found anywhere.)

Pyörremyrsky had a wider & sturdier landing gear than Messerschmitt, it was nicknamed "Puu-Mersu" "wooden messerschmitt" due to the fact that it used the same engine & resembled Bf-109 & was made largely out of wood, the plane's biggest problem was the poor quality of war-time glues used in its construction.
