does the U.S. air force accept army pilots for transition to fixed wing programs?
Army pilot bro here. There is a program that exists but it's like unicorn farts to find and get in to. The better bet is to find an USAF OPO and make the transition that way. Good luck tho. Not at drawdown time.
>army has things that fly
wait what?
^^
this is airforce opinion
Why does it seem like all army pilots want to branch transfer ?
>tfw moving to Santa Clara for two years of school
RIP my carry permit
Also, I have a p938, can I even bring that into the state?
yeah, if it has a mag under 10 rounds.
you'll have to get an FSC.
it'll probably take you a couple months.
>>27527108
If you have money when you get in California just buy a police trade-in. Super cheap and its a gun.
>>27527108
You can bring anything into the state as long as it is not banned by name, a SBR or SBS. All of your ARs must have a boolitbootin if you want a pistol grip. Oh and don't forget, you have to register all of your firearms within 30 days of your residence change.
Who military here? Enlisting has seemed more and more attractive to me as time goes on. However I have no idea what branch I would want to join. Did you enjoy/value your time in? Would you recommend your branch/mos? I'm in college so I would probably be officer material since I would either do ROTC or be enlisting holding 2 bachelor's degrees.

/meg/
Anyhoo.
I'm Navy, Sub occifer. I did NROTC. Lot of friends in Army, USAF, USMC, and some SWO/Pilot/Seal buddies.
You already have a BA/BS? You can go to OCS if your GPA isn't shit. Two BA/BS doesn't really do much for you, and only one can be used to give you rank if enlisting.
What are you interested in? What are your majors? It's a pretty big world out there.
>>27527201
Not yet, I'm a sophomore/2nd year. Yeah, I figure two doesn't count any more than one, but I'm doing a double major regardless. I'm majoring in environmental science and chemistry, so neither is really all that relevant to military service. I've thought that being a combat engineer would probably be the closest fit, because some of the skills would transfer to restoration projects. That would put me in the Army most likely, but I'm also open to the Navy, that's what my uncle was in.

War is often a frightening thing, despite how much patriotic fervor you may claim to carry.
It has come to my attention that the most frightening things about war might not explicitly be the enemy, but rather their equipment that is used against you.
Can anyone tell me what would be the most intimidating thing to fight against?

Honestly, in our modern times when so many wars are fought by a superior military force on one side and a bunch of ragtag untrained rebels on the other, the scariest would be to simply come across a group of well-trained infantry that know what they're doing. It's easy to fuck up the enemy when they don't know what they're doing and you have all kinds of air and ground support to back you up, but as soon as the playing field gets leveled at all, it turns from a turkey shoot to a real kill-or-be-killed situation.
The worst thing isn't the enemy...

That must feel like hell, like , you go hunting and spot a deer in the bushes, you aim and take your shot, only to see that deer was wearing plates and starts to shoot back at you
>Gas
Whatever fucking gas they use on our asses when training just fucking sucks.
It burns your eye sockets and it feels like your brain is coming thru your fucking nose. Plus you can't fucking breathe without feeling like you are being stabbed by 9 inch pin needles in your fucking lungs. It makes being shot at a cake walk
What's the fucking point on using F-4 phantoms as objetives?
Couldnt they just use old trucks and sell the F-4 to a gallery for some million dollars?
seriously this is too retared to be real
>using an historic plane as if it was a 1985's broken car in a gypsy garage
>>27523568
Look up the rationale behind "Monkey Model" export sales.
>>27523568
There were thousands of F-4s made. They are not special, and there are a ton of them on display. There are export rules in place by the developer, aka, the USA, that says the plane is either destroyed, or returned to the US, where it will be destroyed. Once a plane is harvested for parts its a shell. A shell that likely has metal fatigue and structural damage. So you shoot it or blow it the fuck up.
It desensitizes pilots, drivers, and infantry who would otherwise hesitate at killing a beautiful machine as...

Malaysian Air MH17 confirmed to be shot down with Russian made missle.
This is what happens when you arm the rebel backwoods Russian separatists.
>In the report, the Dutch Safety Board says the weapon used was a 9N314M-model warhead carried on the 9M38M1 missile, as installed on the Buk surface-to-air missile system.
>It adds that the type of fragments found in the wreckage and bodies of crew members in the cockpit were bow-tie or cube shaped - only found in the 9N314M warhead.

I'll start
I currently own a VZ58, a russian and a chinese SKS as my semiautos. I want another VZ for my wife but that's for a while down the road.
I'm thinking about ditching the chinese SKS and getting a flat top upper T97. I read online about how awful the ergonomics are on these rifles and I want to know from you guys if they're actually worth buying. I would be using it for coyotes and shit, not just range time. The safety selector location doesn't really bother me too...

Also I have taken all the paint off and the rifle looks pretty good but there is still some paint residue left on the gun in a few spots, looks like hard water residue but it is very resistant to removal. Is more varsol the answer or is there one last step in removing the paint that I'm not aware of?
I just sent in for my PAL.
I had to check "yes" when it asked if I have attended mental health services over the past 5 years. It wasn't for depression, suicide or anything like that. Hell they didn't even put me on medication.
I sent an attached letter explaining the above.
Has anyone here checked yes in that box? Did it delay the process substantially?
Will they have to call me or my doctor now to confirm I'm not crazy?
I fucked myself pretty bad, didn't I?

It's not legal but Sea Shepherd don't care because they're no cucks.
The Nips COULD sink them but they since they're a nation of cuckolds they lack the ballls.
>>27557483
This it's not at all legal, I wish someone would step up, regardless how you feel about these people it's a dangerous setting to allow them, next you know if I hated BMW's and had a billion dollars could just start smashing containers.

So let's talk Air Force. Anyone got any input on what AFSCs provide the biggest edge in finding work after you're done? I've been looking around and people keep saying Civil Engineering or Air Traffic Control. How about the different Maintenance positions, or Metals Tech? Anyone doing/done any of these, or got some advice on what to try for?

le bump for fun stores about war
Please god, maybe one of you can help me.
I remember seeing a picture of a newspaper article quoting some British soldier from WWII. He said something along the lines about how he "got to shoot some people and ride a motorcycle" and that the war was a "pretty good time."
I've been trying to find this picture forever.
