so according to some amerilards the Soviets 'won' in Afghanistan?

>huge, one sided 'kill ratio' in favor of the Soviets, check
>enormous civilian population BTFO,check
>Soviet army not operationally defeated, check
>Negotiated withdrawal, Soviet client state remains but is eventually overrun, check

This is what Vietnam revisionists actually believe

ISIS vs The Cartel?
My money is on the cartel as I dont think they use Allah guided bullets.

Cartels don't operate entire armored battalions in the open or execute thousands of captured prisoners at once.

My money's on ISIS.

Its not like they actually hit shit
>>

This is a good question.

If numbers were equal, my money is on ISIS but by just a little. They seem just a little better equipped and used to actual tactics.

So what the hell was the Army Ordinance Board thinking when they redesigned the A1? I cant think of a rational reason that the A2 profile is improved
18 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>27554681
they found that soldiers were using their rifles to poke things and pry things (doors, windows, et c) that they were supposed to use entrenching tools for. this bent the light-weight barrel enough to notice at 300 meters.

the profile was thickened under and after the FSB to alleviate this.

because the area under the handguards needed to cool rapidly, the profile was retained at a small diameter. they did increase the length before the "bend" in the gas tube though, in order to ease manufacture. other changes include a new crush washer instead of a split ring, and an improved flash hider and standard twist rate.
>>
>>27554681
Retards where using the 3 prong and prying shit. That's why they went to the A1 birdcage (and to alleviate shit catching it).

People were retardedly bending the barrel and that solved this problem. Hence why it was thickened from the FSB to the barrel.

They didn't do the modern govt or whatever where it's thicker under the handguards, because the AR was still trying to be the wonderfully light weapon.

The A2 birdcage has the solid portion to reduce dust signitures and shit.
>>
>>27554723
>>27554681
there are other advantages as well:

the thicker profile at the front moves the point of balance forward, and with the change from rugged field sights to more occluded target sights, the "hang" of the rifle is balanced more evenly front/back.

the position of the gas port at the front meant that the barrel heated unevenly when fired automatically for long periods of time. a thicker portion of the barrel at the front would heat slower, allowing better "suppressing fire" temporarily from normal rifles until an actual automatic rifleman can be moved into position.

trust me, the government is loath to spend money on things like "safety" or "improvement" unless theres a serious need for it and even then, it has to be cheap enough.

>The second Act, passed May 8, 1792, provided for the organization of the state militias. It conscripted every "free able-bodied white male citizen" between the ages of 18 and 45 into a local militia company. (This was later expanded to all males, regardless of race, between the ages 18-54)
>Militia members, referred to as "every citizen, so enrolled and notified," "...shall within six months thereafter, provide himself..." with a musket, bayonet and belt, two spare flints, a cartridge box with 24 bullets, and a knapsack. Men owning rifles were required to provide a powder horn, 1/4 pound of gunpowder, 20 rifle balls, a shooting pouch, and a knapsack.

If something like this existed today, what kind of gear would it require us to own and what would you make your kit out of?

>AR 15 for interchangeability with milsurp
>1000 rounds of 5.56

>a musket or rifle
AR-15 in 5.56 compatible with milspec parts
>bayonet and belt
Self explanatory, just get a combat knife and a sling
>two spare flints
Probably the equivalent of a cleaning kit I guess
>cartridge box with 24 bullets, 1/4 pound powder, 20 rifle balls
Not sure what the modern equivalent would be in terms of actual numbers, but have some loaded magazines for your rifle.
>knapsack, powder horn and shooting pouch
Backpack and chest rig

Some kind of helmet would probably desired, maybe some kind of body armor if they wanted to be really thorough.

I'd probably have a basic AR-15, with a nato bayonet, medium Alice pack and a Chicom type 81 chest rig because I'm a poorfag. Probably a surplus metal helmet.

>go to range with GF

Is there any comfortable way for a girl with D-C cups to properly shoulder a gun?

>>27554225
Have her square up directly with the target all tactical like. Works for my wife.
>>
>>27554225
Looks lihe her legs might be spread a bit too far, she's still putting her weight on the back leg and not leaning in. Correct her foot placement and that lean, if that fails try having her square behind the rifle. My sister has DD cups and shoots fine from a bladed stance.
>>
Have her stand with her shoulders perpendicular to the target at first, shoulder the rifle and then change leg/foot placement to regular.

After a couple tries, she should get used to where the stock goes and should be able to shoulder rifles normally.

Would this be a good HD, SHTF gun as well?

They're still pretty much just SAA guns.
Single action, meaning slow ROF, unless you "cowboy" with them.
Reloading time is, to quote certain fictional gunslinger, totally "exhilarating!", since you can't just flip out the cylinder like with modern 'volvers. So you better not get into long firefights with one.

>HD
No, that's fucking autistic

>SHTF
Sure. you could hunt fairly lightweight with it to conserve calories.

It would only be good for Inna woods oper8ing, though; not in an urban shtf scenario.

Personally, I have a single six in my pack because it can shoot 22 magnum, 22 lr, long, and short. I would only use this for hunting small game though. A slingshot would arguably do the job.

Does anyone on /k/ into archery? I personally have an optima recurve I occasionally shoot and I love it.

i am thinking up to buy a bow as well , is around 50$ ok to spend on them?
>>
>>27553982
maybe for a children's bow

you're looking at closer to a couple hundred

My uncle gave me this Blackhawk for free because it has no cylinder. I found a replacement on gunbroker for $110, is that a good price?

>>
>>27553098
Also would having a different cylinder lower it's value?

Its a really gun and worth a good deal.
>>
idk but seems like you re getting 44mag for well under 150 so yes
>>
>>27553098
You could try calling Ruger to see if you can just order a new cylinder from them. Since it's a current production gun, odds are good that you can. But the $100 range sounds like it's probably appropriate for this kind of part. What caliber is your gun?

>>27553111
The cylinder is not serialized, so there would be no way for future buyers to know it was a replacement part, if you ever decided to sell it.
