So /k/, im looking for a good cheap 12 or 20 gauge shotgun. I don't care what action it is as long as it can fire at least 3 shots in quick succession without reloading.
This gun will mainly just be for tossing around and having fun.
My budget is around $400 but the cheaper the better.
Any suggestions?

Recommend you go with the mossberg out of all of these. Usually you can pick up a good mossy 500 somewhere in the 300 to 400 window

What are some features you like to see in guns?

I'd have to say I'm a big fan of guns that have compartments or other methods to hold a cleaning kit in the gun, and I also really like stacking swivels.

The idea that someone came up with putting three guns together to make a tripod for orderly storage when you're in the field, and that it caught on, is really neat to me.

What does /k/ think of the Australian Navy? Its been going through a major upgrade lately, of course to compete with China and other south east asian countries. From what I can gather, australias forces are pretty small but high quality

Still needs those AWD, and at least 6 of them.

Hopefully those FFH replacements will be decent too, but the ASMD upgrades on the Anzacs have provided a good stop gap until they enter service.

If by destroying, you mean to completely vaporize, then no. We could probably break of large chunks little by little.

...But why?

How effective are modern anti-missile defenses?

Because they seem to be pretty effective looking at their tests. To the point you would need to swarm enemy ships with missiles to hit.

>How effective are modern anti-missile defenses?

Most threat profiles are handled pretty well, both ballistic and aerodynamic, both subsonic and supersonic.

Subsonic saturation attacks (unless completely overwhelming) have also been something that can now be handled as most modern radars have moved to active phased arrays (APAR, Poliment, AMDR) and can handle more uplinks.

The type of threat that we have very little experience with is something called "Threat D", a subsonic target that suddenly becomes supersonic. USN and other Western navies do not currently have a target drone to simulate that sort of threat profile and it their sensors are currently not optimized for it.

Other than that, air defenses have seen a huge upswing in potential in the last 15 years. And while offense has also improved, it's not so dire as it was in the 70's.

Farbeit from me to be pedantic, but am I the only one who hates hearing the new buzzword "active shooter"? What exactly is an INactive shooter? This new word is as vague as it is redundant. Since every shooter is, by definition, active, the word can tell us nothing important about the shooter.

"Active shooter" is a term that cops have been using for a long time to refer to someone who is (wait for it) currently shooting some place up.

Marlin 22 and a Weatherby Vanguard in .223

Currently looking to either buy or rent a different property. Current landlord doesn't want a safe bolted into 2 immovable surfaces - and there's no where I know of in WA that let's you store your funs.

Looking at an Enfield, full stock if I can find one for reasonable. I'll settle for a sporterised at this point though.

What state you in?

Anybody on /k/ know where to get a hold of black powder caps, either #11 or #10, and either genuine black powder or substitute (it really doesn't matter) in the southern california area? Apparently it's next to impossible to find, I haven't tried contacting any small gun stores yet to see if they might have it, but any major retailer doesn't carry the primers.

Bass Pro Shop has 209 Primers, but that's as close as it gets. I'd much rather just buy enough for 100 rounds at a time than have to order the 1000 from cabelas and pay a $20 shipping fee. It's looking like I might have to go that route though simply out of convenience.

Fuck it I just did it. Fair warning to any other californianons that decide to get a black powder revolver. Any experienced bp shooters know how long these caps will last stored properly?

I got a couple hundred extra rounds and some pyrodex as well so I'll get to have a nice long rage day whenever these come in, but I really have no idea how long it will take me to go through 1000 caps.

Apparently there are some places to get genuine black powder out in LA, but fuck going out there. I'll pay a $20 hazmat fee over $30 in gas and being stuck in traffic any day.

>genuine black powder

I have some caps that are about 35 years old, and are still good. They aren't even CCI- they're CVA.

Try Calguns. California has 20% of all the shooters in the US.

How's your house laid out?
Im in an apartment with a spiral staircase to the master bedroom. Going down stairs with long gun is a no go. Also I'm a huge taget coming down.

12 y/o downstairs

You should be able to manipulate the weapon, including firig with one hand. Might have to push family members behind you.

>firing with one hand

This is so often overlooked as people choose scattergats for home defense. The ability to cover someone with a gun while calling for help is invaluable. Consider that speakerphone may be difficult to use after shooting inside without hearing protection.

I've read that soldiers sometimes didn't even get to train with 30. caliber rifles in WW1, instead using .22 trainers. If this is true, absolutely.
>>
>>28048395
Yep. .22 training Springfields and Enfields are most definitely a thing.
