I read that soldiers in general are much more accurate today than in the past because of improved training methods. Is this true?

Is Yahoo! broken?

I've read that soldiers sometimes didn't even get to train with 30. caliber rifles in WW1, instead using .22 trainers. If this is true, absolutely.

Yep. .22 training Springfields and Enfields are most definitely a thing.

Are you serious? They were teaching kids to shoot .30-06 SGFD by substituting .22 LR?

Very serious,

its not necessarily about learning to handle .30-06, its about learning the fundamentals of shooting and handling the weapon.

You know, it actually doesn't seem like that bad of an idea.

soldiers are all around better than they have ever been.
improved CLS, better equipment, smarter retards.
Vietnam and WWII soldiers were draftees. Not necessarily a bad thing but it wasnt like the Army was looking for the best of the best.
Todays Army being "easier" than it used to be is a baby boomer meme. Old soldiers cant hold a candle to modern soldiers

Other countries did it as well. There were Model 98 training riles in 22 lr, and frankly- more trigger time makes a better shooter- period.

the fundamentals are the same across all platforms you noguns faggots, if you can shoot a 22 you can take those same skills to a 30.06

Which is why /k/ recommends a .22 for a first gun for nogunz
