If you look very closely, the one on the left appears to have one. I think the right does too but it's hard to tell. People are upset because their are still "assault weapons" that are legal to buy. They could've easily swapped out the mag release anyways once they owned the guns.

I got absolutely assblasted the other day for suggesting that magazines shouldn't be stored fully loaded long term, as this would eventually wear out the spring.
I was told this wasn't the case, and that proper springs shouldn't degrade from being compressed for a long time.
My question is, of this is true, why do drum magazines have a spring tension release for storage?

So I think it's time to pick up an MP5 clone. I've been looking at the POF MP5 pistol, because it's the cheapest acceptable quality build out there. On the other hand, Dakota Tactical's D54/10 is my eventual goal, for 10mm STRONK reasons. The thing is, POF is $1500 but DT looks to be $3700 starting. What else is out there? inb4 Speshul Wepponz

10mm and Cheapest does not go together. If you going for 10mm be ready to throw down lots of cash to be good with it. Any reasonable shooting practice will cost you as much as the firearm per year. If you are cost conscious go 9mm and blow your money into practice. Special "10mm STRONK" won't help you if you can't use it well.

Cost isn't the issue for me, and my family and I are already heavily invested in 10mm, have been since the 90s. I pretty much want both. I just wanted to know if the POF had acceptable build quality for the 9mm clone I was going to buy of if I needed to shell out more money for a better quality build. Acceptable in this context means it won't fall apart and can take all HK factory parts.

Hey /k/. Long story short, I kinda fucked up my life for a little while and threw away a really good education and career opportunity for a girl. I'm in the process of fixing it, and if I am readmitted back into the college that I turned down for her my life should be back on track, albeit 2 years late.

Former NROTC midshipman here.
If you get a 4/3/2 year scholarship you can get anything; SWO, SEAL, pilot, subs.
Swo and subs you owe the USN 5 years active and 3 reserve, pilot it's wings+8 which usually winds up being 9.5-10 years.
USN is all over the place, you might be called to shoot tomahawks into Iraq or send seals into Iran or sink some Chinese ships. You may or may not see combat.

Is there ANY reason to still prefer a pump shotgun over an AR or AK in a defensive situation?

While scatterguns still have valid uses for hunting, riot control (beanbag rounds), and some "tactical" breaching applications, seems like a modern semiauto rifle is far, far superior in almost any defensive situation. Thoughts?

A good semi auto rifle is way more expensive than a pump gun.
Its a lot cheaper and a step up from your handguns in terms of putting holes into something.
I guess if i really want to put someone down, itd just load up some 3" magnium slugs and im pretty sure itd knock someone on their ass along with whatever chunk of body into the walls and maybe into that sleeping baby across the street.

I've recently started the long process of getting a firearms license as a Dutch citizen.
However, Dutch firearms law requires an 18 month period of shooting at a gun club before being allowed to purchase a pistol or rifle. (and a whole lot of other stuff too)
Anyways, after these 18 months the police may issue me a firearms license after an extensive background check.
But the first 6 months, I may only purchase a .22 caliber pistol or rifle.
6 months after that I may purchase something in 9mm.
After that, I can may purchase large calibers,...

I've been thinking about buying a Ruger 10/20, because there's a lot of aftermarket stuff for it and from what i've read, it seems to be a good rifle.
My firearms instructer lets me shoot a 22. sig sauer 1911-22. which also shoots nicely but i'm not sure if it's really something I want to buy.
Also, just because I'm saving up some cash doesn't mean that i'm about to drop 3K on something like this.
Germanbro here in the process of getting a hunting license, do you have something like that? It's more expensive but less restrictive than sports shooting here.
