Depends on what you call a tank but,
1. mobile artillery.
2. armored personnel transport.
Because we have been fighting COIN operations exclusively for the last 20 years and mostly for the last 50, so what a first world military equips its infantry with has little bearing on how we operate.

They're nice charging handles, but really don't offer that much over cheap ass Mil Spec ones. I have used a PRI Gas Buster and really wasn't a fan.

By the way, I'm not sure about USA.
I've seen numbers of about 5000 combat aircraft. On that list of active equipment on Wikipedia, I counted 3000.

Well, look at it this way: The F-14 and F-15 are both leagues better at dogfighting than the F-4, and the F-16 will smoke the shit out of tomcats and eagles in dogfights, aaaaand the F-35 is equal to or better than the F-16 at dogfighting.
