Does anyone know a good art site were the copyright system isn't broken and the staff aren't lazy money whores?
depends on what kind of art you make, really.
But mostly Behance.
These are from my sticky notes:
Posting work - pixiv
Devintart nah
Behance
Artstation
Instegram maybe
Artwanted perhaps
Artician
I'm considering to have an acc on Artstation.
DA is good for highlighting your work in groups, but it's full of kids.
Tumblr is good for sharing your work, so as facebook - you get followers.
But your work might end up into some fucked up Visual Novel or worse, Specially if you're a enviro - interior artist. Just put your watermarks and hope for the best.
Yes, I lose my shit also. What if someone can monetize my work selling t-shirts and I've never seen monetization potential at all in what I do.
This is Wolly from poo.com I like to make drawings for a living. What do you think?
looks like a clapping potato with no eyes saying wow over and over
I love potatoes. Thanks for your criticism I will try to improve.
Alright sp/ic/s, here's what's up.All of us complain about how slow this board is compared to other boards, how bad and toxic this board is compared to other boards (apparently including /b/ which surprised me) and how unproductive this board is compared to EVERWHERE ELSE ON AND OFF THE FUCKING INTERNET.
So, this thread is meant to gather and share ideas on how to jumpstart /ic/.
On my part, I've been posting roll threads every once in a while, and once I get better at drawing, I want to start posting study threads.
What will you guys do to fix this...

finally fix the sticky we were trying to fix months ago, and replace the piece of shit that's currently being stickied

In all my entire stay, I have never heard a thing like this.
Is this some weird bait?
>>2546246
It's always been a toxic board and has always been slow. It's faster now than it has been in the past few years though.
As long as it isn't being overwhelmed with spam posts like a ton of sakimi threads or whatever then the board is about the same as it always has been except there is a shift towards more anime and porn now than before. All the pros who contributed here have either been chased off entirely or have given up on putting any effort into improving the board, but again, this has been...

This book is a meme.
I did the upside down drawing and the vase thingy. Can I skip this book and do Keys to drawing?
>>2546209
Do whatever you want to do!
>>2546211
I want to improve tough. What would the hodges do?
>>2546216
I feel like that book is too pseudo-science bullshit to be of any significant help. Just read the loomis books.
What inspires you to paint and what is it that you paint?
Since finishing Uni a few years ago I've had no inspiration whatsoever.
Where I live there is nothing to do, no galleries to visit, no remarkable scenery or people. Just wasting time in my room or going to the shops every now and then to kill time.
How do you inspire yourself when there's nothing around you to get inspired by?
>>2543432
get high :^)
>>2543432
>no remarkable scenery or people
I call that bullshit, you lack curiosity. Why should it be remarkable? Life isn't remarkable by any means.
I dont know where you live, but even the smallest and dullest places have interesting things happening. Go outside and leave your car behind. Forget mountains or monumental buildings, go talk to that old butcher or something.
>>2543494
This.
I must admit that i used to be like OP.
And sooner or later you find what stands behind the word "curiosity".
And that curiosity implies in EVERY aspect of live, every field, not just art.
what du u think about this?
>>2550365 (OP)
DROGA means drug ofc
Terrible lines. Learn to draw before doing cartoons.
>>2550375

you fail.
you get critique.
you fail.
you remember critique.
you fail a little less.
you keep failing.
you study.
you try to draw your study.
you fail again.
you get another critique. notice time difference in critiques? just because someone tells you something does not mean you will perform correctly.
you keep failing.
woah a year has gone by.
you keep failing.
another critique try to get it from someone who is better than you i guess.
2 years.
failarooney.
3years.

If you could go to any art school you like for free, then which school would you choose?
Are there any art schools that are objectively the best at teaching illustration, concept art or 3d?
Bonus points for schools that are from Europe.
Just because your parents are paying doesn't mean it's free. Save it until you're 22 at the earliest.
>let me teach you how to make "art"
Never understood the people that can't learn to draw by themselves, it's fucking trial and error
>I want my drawing to look lake "this"
>try
>Well it doesn't look good, it looks like shit
>why?
>Oh my lines are shit

i dunno about european schools but in the US the school in rhode island is apparently really good for under grad...
in NYC the school of visual arts is supposed to be pretty good too.
on the west, you cant beat calarts.
Post random things from your inspiration folder and why you saved it.
I like this for the simplicity and stylization.
just thought this looked nice while being very simple
I thought the use of color was gorgeous although the OP hadn't been happy with it.
Anyone here ever had to deal with wrist problems because of art or something of the sort? Any tips/sharing of experiences?
I feel like I must be a fucking idiot for letting it get bad. Drawing is pretty much all I can do. Tell me honestly, is my life over?

Here's my experience. I have/had impingement in my left shoulder while waiting for surgery to shave down the bone and cut the muscles so that it wouldn't get inflamed by rubbing together. My right shoulder started to develop the same thing (I'm built symmetrically and its a genetic problem). So I have the chance to go for surgery on my right shoulder and correct the pain that is there when I've over used it but that'll take my shoulder fully out of use for around a month and it won't feel...

the problem didn't occur because of art but it really impacted my ability to practice.
Last year I had tendonitis or a sprain of some kind, it was hard to tell (felt like the tendon was rolling over the bone)
not sure how well it relates to what you are going through but stretches, advil, and making sure to wear any kind of brace when not drawing taking regular breaks and using ice to reduce inflamation. took about 4-5 months to recover.
Got a few issues myself, and I'm still feeling pain in my drawing shoulder. Do sports, yoga and get some massages. Take some rest every 20minutes to stretch a bit. Avoid everything that hurts as much as possible. Throw your mouse away (got a keyboard with integrated touchpad). Be wary of keyboard pain (especially those bloody shortcuts). Experiment with positional issues and material.
If you have money, invest in: a good chair, a good desk (the most important is that they are adjustable). I bought an Ergo Rest arm to help.
Remember, this battle is the long haul, it took me months to get rid of the burning pain that kept me awake, and there are still remnants.
I gonna highly regret this, but tell me what you think of my faggot art.
I dont have an scanner, only my phone
I like it
Thanks anon
Very nice. If you were a girl I'd date you even if your were reasonably homely.

Art Critic here and willing to help again with constructive criticism, redline, paintover, links, whatever. Show me your work and I'll tell you what's shit about it and what you need to improve on.
No abstract works or extremely preliminary sketches. If you want to see my work just ask for a redline--do not derail the thread, please.

sure why not
>>2547354
How do I become a good art critic like you?
A wip that is problematic...
Hello
I was wondering what would be a good price range for a portrait. I have been commissioned and haven't settled on the price yet. For more information I have a B.A. in art and a working artist but always had trouble in pricing my art.
>>2547940
Not enough info. What medium? Who is hiring? What is it for? What is your skill level?
There will be very different answers if it like a digital fantasy portrait for a card game or an oil painting of some important person.
>>2547946
It be acrylic or oil. It be a lady having a portrait of her children.
>>2547947
post an example of your portrait work
skill level dictates price
