I can't take it anymore /ic/ I am a closet attention whore and for too long I have been a hermit but now I crave it I want those ass pats I want those likes and faves I want my ego fed and my dick stroked I want it all.

Where can I go to shamelessly get all of the attention but without having to circlejerk or kiss ass for it, is catering to furries a quick fix for the attention and audience I want?

Please respond.

The worst part about being an artist that wants to be paid for his work is hating the idea of celebrity.

I'm not even socially awkward or anything, at least not very, I just detest the idea of celebrity status and I find the fact that I have to become a phony like PewDiePie or RayWilliamJohnson or whatever really distasteful.

Is art over? People will now be able to manipulate 2D images as if they were 3D.

That's pretty interesting. However, it can't create anything new, it only manipulates what's already there. And what's more, the object's geometry and hidden texture are determined from a database -- meaning that if something isn't fully 3D modelled beforehand, it wont work.

Can a bad reputation ruin your art career?

Once an artist gets popular enough, is it not inevitable that people will try to dig up dirt on them?

If anyone was so inclined, they could find my old gaia accounts, see my shitty 13 year old personal rants, my trolling. Find my old internet footprint and I'd be fucked. I've seen artists being accused of being pedophiles/abusers and it's fucking scary.

Can you even recover from that, or does it even matter?

All they would find on me is some bad pictures, some cringey rants, and talk about doing drugs or something.

I would just own it. Meh. That tends to be the best response imo as long as it's nothing like peeing on kids or w/e
>>
>mfw I said some very anti-feminists anti-pc shit after the whole reporting-spree of Steven Universe babies when people drew the characters too "skinny" or whatever.

If I became popular, I'm sure those posts would bite me in the ass. I'll be labeled as some woman-hating body-shamer male chauvinist and/or nazi racist.

Welp.

What kind of bad reputation? Bad reputation in working ethic, i.e. "giveman$120back" cases can surely ruin your career.

Let's be real for a second - "Art" is pretty irrelevant outside of the entertainment industry right now. If you care about art outside video games, movies, cartoons, you're probably gay.

Moving on, my question is, why does it seem like artists draw the short straw in the game development industry? Both in fame, power, and wealth. Seems like game designers and prevalent programmers like John Carmack are highly known and well respected, but I can't really say the same thing for artists.

Do you know the art director for Blizzard? For Valve?...

carmack is not your average fucking programmer. Romero. The others are just fucking PR and executive heads.

something like 70% of a modern AAA games budge gpes tp art. And those artists are getting paid very well. When Ifirst joined EA I started at $30h at very cost effective city.
>>
>>2414679
Most of the money in art is in teaching, it's a vicious circle of artists preying on lesser artists to pay their bills. At least the costs associated with learning online and in Ateliers is ethical/reasonable without a lot of risk.

>only concept art is important
>why don't people think concept art is important
OP maybe concept art just isn't that important?

people will always need art for their houses, but most people don't play video games.

Hey guys,

What's the best approach to measure proportions, in order to remember them essentialy? Like if the figure is straight I understand that from head to toe a straight line and measure is the best approach but what happens when the figure is all twisted like this image, how would you measure it? I use the red image to measure stuff (vertical and horizontal) but I wonder if the other one (blue line) is better. I will be honest I am really stuck with this freaking dilema right now. I know taht Loomis approach this problem with box for every form in perspective...

Personally I don't really measure out foreshortening to such a degree, I usually just look at reference/model and get a "feel" of what the size/shape should be. Breaking it down into flat shapes helps in that regard.

One minute poses is more about capturing the general gesture and form, strict proportions aren't super important.

you try to give some volume but it doesn't make any sense, try to understand why you put big lines
>>
Graphitti art is so specialized its hard to know what to discuss or critique.
I'd start by saying that you should use real paper and not a sheet of notebook paper.
The shapes have lots of insets and cutouts that don't really make sense and make them look lumpy.
The thick lower borders suggest volume but the overlapping parts ruin the sense of dimensionality.
The shading is inconsistent and I see evidence of scratchy lines instead of flowing single strokes.
Also the word is hard to read but I don't think that's really an issue.
>>
>>2407193

Work on your presentation. You took a shitty cell phone pic of a drawing in a lined paper notebook at an angle. The same picture drawn with a marker on white paper and scanned with levels adjusted would look much better.

alright guys, don't know if any of you can help me. I went to art school but decided to get my teaching degree and have been teaching the last few years. I want to start a design and concept art business, initially through the internet. How do I get started? I've done logo design, signage, graphic design, and concept art/storyboarding for one independent horror film, so I know what I'm doing basically. I have no idea how to get started though. Can I get a free website that doesn't have some other shit like weebly in the address, so forth and so on? any advice?

Hey d/ick/sters! How about we make the sticky great again? The beginner guide is pretty fucking ugly and poorly written and many people don't like some of he content. I thought a wiki page would be a better option, with people being able to add content and more streamlined and familiar look. So I set one up and anyone who wants can make it great by adding stuff, if it turns into something actually nice we can try to bully mods into changing the official sticky post to include this.

Anyways, from now on if you ever have a complaint on sticky, instead of shitposting,...

Life drawing parrots like you don't understand that drawing from life is meant to be an exercise to deepen your understanding about stuff you have already studied. It's not meant to replace proper forms of education like studies from anatomy masters, reading books, taking classes, doing style studies etc. Maybe you should just bite the bullet and indeed study some Loomis instead of doing your worthless life drawing scribbles that haven't gotten you anywhere so far.

What is the biggest gig you've ever got?
