'Sup /ic, I'm new to digital art and have only done pencil in the past. Anyone know any good books on color, value, all that stuff? Pretty much stuff about techniques/use of light and color that people like Mullins and such use. Or any good books on the use of color and value in general, it's just that Mullins' style or even concept artists like Kekai Kotaki or those from Dark Souls. I'm blabbering at this point, I just good books on color, lighting, and shadow.
I'm having trouble making faces look either male or female. > pic not mine, just one that includes a male and female face for the same person. How do they do it?
Usually, you'd try to make men's facial features look more sharp and straighter lines, while drawing a woman, you'd go for more curvy lines and a softer approach
Keep drawing faces with a a diverse reference. Keep drawing bodies with diverse references. It's something that will take time but you'll notice you're own progression pretty quick.
It looks fucking awful. Assuming this is an accurate reproduction of what the original paint looked like then it's honestly one of the shittiest looking things I've ever seen.
It goes from looking incredible to suddenly looking like a shit tier toy that's produced in some fucking third world sweatshop. How did they think this looked good?
You'd think that if there were sculptors good enough to replicate a human body that accurately there was nobody who could paint over that anything beyond one simple layer for the skin tone and one for hair and pubes?

Doesn't look that great to me, but if it works for the guy then whatever. I don't care if people are using the tools available to them and I'm not competing for a job in this market.
Post your doodles/sketches that you make without thinking. Stuff you make during lectures and whatnot on your notes. for example. I find that they're an good stress reliever and drawing aimlessly can bring up some pretty new and interesting ideas.
