How come old comic art looks so bad compared to today? Art has been around for thousands of years. Was it because the artists were paid less or something?

A lot of artists in the Golden and early Silver age were focused producing a great quantity of pages instead of pages of a great quality. There is a huge jump in quality in Kirby's art once he stops penciling/doing layouts for like 6 ongoings at once and just focuses on Fantastic Four and Thor
Of course there are exceptions like C.C.Beck from Captain Marvel, Jack Cole from Plastic Man, and the EC artistshonestly even the early Kirby stuff looks better than a lot of what DC and Marvel are passing off today

My friends haven't seen a lot, but I've personally watched a shit load of stuff. Most Ghibli films, most Disney / Pixar / DreamWorks / etc films, Yellow Submarine, most versions of Thief and the Cobbler, Secret of Kells, and a lot of other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head. I'm open to watching stuff I've seen before.
So this guy's entire motivation to become evil was because his daughter was seemingly killed, and thus wanted revenge.
But then when he killed Hero's brother he was all like "Well too bad he shouldn't have been there" and then was surprised when Hero tried to kill him.
I dunno it just seems like there was a hole in the plot and the directors just went with it and didn't try to work it in. They could have talked about it... at all...
I didn't really care for this movie. It feels like a lot of things were left out
