Alright /co/, lets have a conversation about Batman and gun usage. Batman always seems to be stereotyped as the guy who will never use a gun but why?
The characters earliest days had him using a gun
Then once rules changed he stopped but for some reason when everything went back to normal they decided the character was better off not using them. Instead he continued to use gadgets such as Batarangs and grappling guns etc. to show him as more heroic
All of these gadgets can be used potentially lethal way but as such never are.
So where did this Batman Hates Guns idea start?
People will always try to cite TDKR as evidence that Batman thinks they are "the weapon of the enemy" but in that very story Batman uses a gun to kill a man and save the life of a child.
Others say it was because his parents were killed using a gun. Well what if they were stabbed? Where does the line get drawn for this character? What if Batman only used a gun to shoot cripple ala his Batarangs? I mean he is regularly portrayed as being willing to break bones so why not inflict bullet wounds?

He didn't kill him. Frank Miller said it he had problems showing how batman just hurt him. Even in the animated version the show what it was meant to be

>Alright /co/, lets have a conversation about Batman and gun usage. Batman always seems to be stereotyped as the guy who will never use a gun but why?

Because he's incredibly traumatized by his parents death

You didn't read the comic, did you.

On one hand I understand what DC is trying to do here, and to a degree, I approve. DC failing to give new characters the support they need was one of their classic faults, and I'm glad to see them taking steps to fix it.

On the other hand: FUCK Harper Row. She's so god damned annoying, she actively makes any comic she's in worse with her presence. And they just keep shoving her down my fucking throat without even buying me a drink first.

>two issue guest-star in Batman over the course of five years

>guest spot in one issues of Detective Comics
>subplot arc in B&R:E

I know you guys are desperate to hate her because you hate her haircut, but I will never understand this narrative that you all keep constructing.

Harper at the end of the day is just late 90s Tim mixed with late 90s Steph, both of whom are characters who don't exist at DC anymore. Tim is a completely different and shittier person and DC has completely filed off the rough edges of Steph and her white trash background. I'd still rather read about her than Tim, Jason, Julia Pennyworth, and multiple other characters who populate modern Bat-Books. Hell I'd rather read a book with her than Steph, modern Steph just feels so squeaky clean with very little hook to her anymore.

>subplot arc in Batman and Robin

Subplot in Batman Eternal I mean. Not that it matters considering Harper's subplot was smaller then multiple other character's.

I like Harper, but that's also because I really miss Dixon-era Steph and she's the closest thing that's filling that void.

I will say I think making her a vigilante was a mistake and she was more interesting as a Harold like figure to Batman, but I get that everyone needs a costume these days to sell more action figures.

Why does /co/ hate romance? I don't mean they hate bad romance or shipping, but the fundamental idea that romance is inherently bad for stories.

I just dont understand why there is this sentiment that such a fundamental part of the human experience should be excluded from character.

Of course the cheap answer would be" comics and cartoons are about punching and action and shit, not that girly 'kisssing' and 'feelings' stuff." Which I know is a stereotypical strawman that people only want lcd thrills, not well handled and fleshed out charcaters who are people and not just props to look cool and smash together like action figures.

So is it just jadedness? The traditional "curve" in comics and cartoons blocking out good romance promoting an image that romance is inherently bad? What's the dip?

Romance is a lame motivation. It's literally just "I care for this person because my genitals ache for them"
It's on the same level as a villain being motivated because they are "evil" or greedy.

Political motivations > all other

http://douglasernstblog.com/2015/12/09/dan-slotts-spider-man-bailed-out-by->kid-after-ignorance-risked-lives/

Normally I agree with this guy's perceptions of ASM under Slott, but I admit I took the latest issue at face vale. I thought Peter was joking when he offered the goblins money, but it does seem to be hellishly (see that?) out of character.

And the fact that they were threatening may, dropping bombs all around her, shit, that should have put Peter in seek to maim mode, take of the kiddy gloves. Slott's Parker is inconsistent.

What are your thoughts on the review, and the latest issue of Amazing Spider-Man, /co/mrades? On the whole, I'm enjoying Spider-Man's exploits, but hesitantly waiting to see how Slott fucks up Peters life again.

>Years ago this blog mentioned that some comic book superheroes are meant for war zones, and some are meant for city streets. Dan Slott’s writing proved that observation yet again in the fourth issue of The Amazing Spider-Man.
>Imagine you’re in a crowd of people when bombs start falling all around you. Terrorists with high-powered rifles and explosives fly through the air on military-grade gliders. A friendly aircraft swoops in and you think you’re saved, but it turns out the “hero” only armed it with web shooters that must be fired perfectly at multiple targets to stop the carnage.
>Predictably, the “hero” is shot down, but by the grace of God the aircraft does not careen into the crowd of people he was supposed to be saving.
>That, my friends, is Dan Slott’s Spider-Man.
It was pretty short sighted. But then, people would be accused him of being TOO prepared. Like Batman. Spidey's ingenuity shows in his ability to think on his feet, but he wouldn't have to get in so many bad places if he (the writer) actually thought.

>Now imagine that said “hero” pulls himself from the twisted wreckage of his multi-million-dollar airborne web-shooter to return to the fight. Outnumbered and armed only with his wits, his response is to ask if his bloated bank account might convince them to “switch sides” (Spider-Justice does not require them to be held liable for dropping bombs on innocent civilians moments earlier.)

>When that doesn’t work, the hero is stumped. Luckily, a small child from a third-world country happens to be on hand to indirectly suggest he use surrounding technology (his own, no less) to create an electromagnetic device.

>That, my friends, is Dan Slott’s Spider-Man.

>The Amazing Spider-Man #4 is a great read …if you enjoy seeing a hero escape a daunting situation created solely because of his own ignorance.

Adam Stafford has joined the cast of The CW's THE FLASH as Adam Fells / Geomancer,"a dangerous meta-human with the unique ability to create earthquakes. Intent on destroying the Flash, Geomancer uses his powers to unleash a string of targeted earthquakes, optimistic that he’ll draw out the Flash for a mano-a-mano fight to see who’s the most powerful metahuman in Central City."

Geomancer will appear in episodes 13 and 14, described as two of the craziest episodes in the entire show.

I think it's meant to be a punch to the solar plexis in those cases - isn't it possible to hit it so hard the sheer pain can make someone go into shock and faint?
>>
>>78252287
nobody ever passes out on tv from a punch to the gut, they just get the wind knocked out of them and are indefinitely incapacitated. which is exactly what a punch to the solar plexus does. it forcibly pushes the air out of you and makes it hard to reinflate

they do however get knocked out from a single blow to the head, and wake up fine later.

Does anyone else get the feeling that these two knew each other at some point? I mean it's implied that most of Blue Diamond's army had water powers of some kind or another (decorations on the sea spire, she's controlling water on the mural, lapis, etc.) So it's possible that with her coloration and ice powers sapphire might have been under blue diamond at some point.

Lapis said she "Never believed in earth" suggesting that at some point she may have been asked to by someone at some point. In addition, when Garnet found out about the mirror she completely freaked out. How often does Garnet act like that? And then after the rest of the gems gave up looking for her in Chil Tid, Garnet kept looking until she actually collapsed from exhaustion, despite the fact that gems don't even need to sleep!

Why does Jane ever transform back into herself from being Thor, anyway? If the change resets her body and eliminates any treatment she goes through, why not just stay Thor until she doesn't have that option anymore, and then try dealing with the cancer afterwards?

Why did she keep her identity secret as long as she did, anyway? Why is this story seemingly so half thought out? There's nothing wrong with the idea of a lady with Thor's power (it's happened more than once before), or it being Jane, or the fact that she might have cancer when not in literal Godmode, but everything about the execution has been so shitty with all this "mystery" that serves as more obfuscation than intrigue and an approach to a female hero that has had about all the eloquence of hitting someone in the face with a giant fried turkey leg
