It's a properly-structured story with setup, buildup, climax, and resolution all neatly in place. It has a simple but consistent central theme. The characters are believable, interesting and likable. It has humor, action, and drama that feel natural and not forced.
Is "fun" a trigger word? I get that its pretty minimal in terms of describing a thing but so is calling something "shit" and we use that all the time.

oh and as for hotel transylvania... surprisingly good! ugly art, but ugly in a different, much less irritating way than other cg and stopmotion stuff.
