Can someone please explain to me why DC is giving almost complete control of their cinematic universe to Goyer and Snyder? I get that MoS made money, but it's not like it was an enormous success, and it definitely didn't do well critically. Yet despite this, these guys are getting put in charge of BvS and probably a lot of future films

Because WB is out of touch, delusional, or both, and think that dark and gritty superhero stories are the only kind that sell with the characters they, embarrassingly, own.
Snyder has some sort of imaginary 'street cred' when it comes to making comic book movies, despite being a pretty awful storyteller and is probably a giant yes-man.
Speaking of yes-men, Goyer is a well known studio bitch who is capable of churning out mediocre superhero movie scripts that match the winning Hollywood formula...

•a "jigsaw" rip-off: Puzzle Master ("dumbed down"/child-ified for a kid friendly saw-story "episode" or comic/show... example Puzzle...

How come in a movie all about a heightened connection between Iron Man and Ultron, Ultron's biggest one-on-one fight scene and most layered thematic conflict is with Captain America?
