How is it possible that whenever I cook food, it takes much longer than anyone else doing the same cooking? I don't mean the preparation part, I mean the time things need to be in a kettle of boiling water.

It takes me at least 30 minutes to make a hard-boiled egg. Boiling potatoes takes so long I don't even set a timer for it, since they can easily boil for several HOURS before they're properly cooked. How is this possible, and why is this happening?

Do you live in a high elevation?

Either your stove is broken/old/shitty or you aren't using it the right way.
Tell us what stove, appliances, heat settings etc. you're using.
>>
Thanks for the quick replies.

No, almost at sea level actually.

I have lived in three houses, one of which even had a gas stove instead of electric. I usually use the setting 3/6, but isn't the water boiling already sufficient temperature for cooking?

Alright cu/ck/s, I'd be really glad if you guys would help me out with something
>be me
>hiding from my mom I'm not a muslim anymore
>Ramadan season hits, today is the first day
>Mom tells me to go get her some ingredients from the nearby supermarket
>Can buy myself something to eat while in my room

What is the best catagory to choose from?
Some small conditions:
>Nothing that crumbles too much
>Nothing that makes too much noise while eating
>Nothing that leaves a too strong smell in your breath
>Something relatively easy to hide/sneak with me upstrairs, so something small will do

Sorry if I shouldn't use this board for it.

What's up with cake donuts? Why not just eat a plain cupcake? I'd much rather have a light and airy yeast donut. You don't feel like shit like you do after eating dense cake donuts.

Yes you do, because they put diabetic frosty garbage on them. They taste like nothing otherwise.
>>

>Putting sugar on the outside of yeast donuts
>Putting sugar in the batter of cake donuts

What's the difference? I'd still rather have a lightly glazed yeast donut, or even unglazed.
>>
>>7754550
Fuck you OP. old fashioned donuts are the best kind. I'd dip those fuckewrsd in hot chocolaqte if I could. yeeahh. MAYBE I WILL!

When did you first start drinking, /ck/?

Around 10-11 years old. I saw my dad drinking gin and tonic (pictured) and thought it was Sprite, so I asked for some. I thought I drank cleaning fluid or something.

It wasn't until 5 or 6 years later that I started drinking shots of scotch, then a few more years before ending each night with a glass of G&T.

First drank any alcohol at communion, I was pretty young
First started drinking alcohol with meals in my teens, it was usually wine, and it was provided by family
First started drinking recreationally in college, it was whatever I could get my hands on because I didn't have much spare cash, and it was illegal until I was 21
First started drinking alone after some bitter times in my adult life, I still do. It started off as liquor but I realized it was becoming harmful so I switched to wine, which is less harmful

Never drunk heavily till I was 16. Binged the fuck out of 8 beers then threw up in a McDonalds carpark in front of the drivethru staff.
good memories
>>
>>7754432
Same as this guy, had some drinks while around 15 but never got drunk until 16 when I went to a friend's girlfriend's house and drunk some vodka and OJ and went out on the town and bumbled some retardese bullshit to my crush who was there by some arcane reasoning.
I asked her out at some point, she had a boyfriend. She still has that boyfriend, I've asked out 2-3 other chicks since then and got rejected and I'm still drinking myself to death 8 years later at a dead end job.
I can't state it sincerely enough, drinking isn't worth it.

I still don't understand how those tablet versions got so popular and caused the stick kind to die out for a bit. Gum sticks are just plain superior in every way, with the only flaw being they can dry out.

Why do morons and Americans add shit into their espresso?

>>
americans are so dumb.
>>
>>7754136
Italians themselves have cappuccinos for breakfast. It doesn't spoil the espresso. Maybe you just have a bad barista.
>>
This kind of thread needs to be against the rules on /ck/. This board was good once, and it's now dying a very painful death. Maybe nobody cares, but this is the shittiest of shitposts.

"morons" as an attempt to characterize people who put milk in a beverage. Tie in American bashing, and don't even make the thread about espresso in general. This should be an automatic ban.

Thoughts on this brand? I've tried several flavors and they've all been delicious. The Sea Salt Caramel has little chocolate covered caramel truffles in it and is definitely my favorite.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor/brand?

>>

Good thing that doesn't apply to this brand then, since they are packed in clear plastic containers

where did this "coffee + butter is sooo good" meme came from? did you try it?

i have to admit that i did. i drinked a couple of times coffee plus butter, no sugar. tasted like crap, what did i expect.

>>
I think you have to blendthebutter into rhe coffee. Ive never tried it, but i imagine that you otherwise end up with a bunch of butter completely separated from the coffee.
>>
>>7754011
Yeah, you blend in the butter and it turns frothy.
>>
Blending is necessary, if you add xanthan gum when blending it'll stay mixed longer. Gotta use good butter too (I use kerrygold, not the best but better). I preffer half butter half coconut oil with a lil salt.

I can cook a steak, grill some cheese, and ramen @ the same time, sorry cu/ck/s but you lost.

An an Amerifat how can I deal with feeling hungry all the time. I drink a lot of water but it doesn't solve the issue. I also eat veggies with every meal but they don't fill me up.
Does anyone have any advice?

water is pointless to drink and vegetables will never make you feel full no matter how many you consume

eat some real food
>>
>>7753832
Eat more complex carbs to feel fuller longer, oats are a good example.
>>
I remember hearing that when you feel hungry it's because your stomach is contracting (also the source of the "groans" your stomach makes when you're hungry) so maybe your stomach is just stretched the fuck out to the point that you're constantly hungry every time it tries to contract to a normal size.

Try portion control. Eat, but don't eat so much. Exhibit some will power.

You might also want to try never having a formal meal but instead snacking on stuff throughout the day. A lot of people claim this works, but for me it always seemed a bad suggestion because I rather than just planning meals, I have to plan tiny little shits throughout the day--seemed annoying and a bad idea.

Bought some prunes today at the market mostly on a whim/joke.
Holy shit these fuckers are amazing!
Why didnt you tell me /ck/?
They have always just been some geriatric punch line to me. I thought they would be horrible.

A friend of mine owns a bakery/café. She offered prune cake made from brioche dough rolled out flat, topped with butter-sautéed prunes tossed with a little sugar and plum wine, rolled up into a tight snake, then coiled into a snail shell shape. She offered it for a while but nobody bought it. Usually, it would be me, her, her husband and her kitchen help just eating the prune cake ourselves.

Jokingly, I told her to rename it "dried plums cake" and she did.

Sold like a motherfucker and people loved it.
Basically, you're not alone in your aversion to it. I'll never understand it myself, because I fucking love prunes and eat them pretty often.
They're like little hugs for your mouth.
>>
Prunes are great, I've eaten them since I was a kid and never even knew they were mostly seen as old people food til I was older.
>>
>>7753759

I think they are saying a good lion fish is a dead lion fish

they are an invasive species that is basically obliterating life on coral reefs
>>
>>7753765
>In November 2010, for the first time the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary began licensing divers to kill lionfish inside the sanctuary in an attempt to eradicate the fish.

if you ever go scuba diving in the caribbean/south east US and want to help the environment, bring a gun with you and shoot as many lionfish as you can
