Has anyone else had experiences with the Dark Man? This is possibly the most disturbing thing for me to talk about, as I thought I was the only one that experienced this when I was younger. My mother, an old roommate, and my youngest cousin all had similar experiences.
I remember being a small kid still in a crib, playing with a little toy firetruck. I dropped it under the crib and look to the door to yell for my mom, only to see the Dark Man standing there. Terrified, I stuck my head in my pillow. Feel something grab me and start screaming. My mom was the one that picked me up. To this day I don't know if it was a demon or a dream or what.
Each of the people I talked to had similar stories. To my shock, a lot of people have experienced similar things and call him by the same fucking name. I saw a television show a while ago and I was completely terrified when the picture they showed was the exact figure I saw when I was a child.
No shit? I remember back in second grade, I'd just have the same dreams often of me stuck in my bed, unable to move, staring around my room. Often the door would open and the "dark man" would stand there (the one I saw didn't sport a trilbie) and just stare, and from past experiences of the same dreams, I know I would have to wake up or the "actual dream" starts - often when I didn't wake up, it would scream the loudest scream at any random point, scaring the shit out of me. It would walk towards me, manhandle me and I'd wake up. These dreams have different varieties but this one is most clear. I never knew it was that popular. Fucked up man, reminiscing about those childhood dreams is making my eyes tear up from fear, its so bad...

He was never malevolent toward me. My mom says he might be a guardian angel or a protector of some sort. He obviously scared me because fucking look at him. The only other times I saw him were in my garage and through a window. Always just watching me.
My little cousin (I don't remember how old) used to have really fucked up nightmares and the only words she would say were dark man. This was back when she could barely even speak single words.

I am a few sessions into creating my tulpa, I have spent previous sessions getting into a zone and an internal space where this process can take space. During my last session I experienced a very chaotic (not in a bad way, more excitable) ball of energy wizzing about coming and going, took a lot of concentration to try and calm it down. After a while the energy seemed to start taking a form that I could relate too, previously it had been morphing into various shapes and it was almost as if I was experiencing various places without feeling like moving.
A picked a very relatable space for my base of creation and designated certain places within this space for certain tasks, accessing memory's ect. Back to tulpa, I found myself feeling very content with her, and felt that it was a comforting presence that I required, all the ideas that I had had envisaged before creation seemed to be bouncing between us, like a perfect brainstorming session. By nature I am a very demanding person, but also apologetic because I know I'm a pain in the ass, but I was reassured and comforted by the responces between the connection. I didn't want to try and force a specific apearence but I had an idea, I saw glimpses of an apearence but I didn't want to push it, the same with any kind of verbal connection. A lot of it was just kind of a reassuring experience and ended very calmly from its excitable beginning.
When I came out of my meditative state I felt very content and feel very at ease with what had happened. The only thing about it was how much time had past, I had experienced so much in such a short space of time, I had been at it for about an hour, I know roughly that to get into a calm meditative state for myself it has usually been about half an hour before I get into my space.
I'm obviously new to this so any thoughts or comments are appreciated, as is any info in proceeding forward. Cheers

Anyone here have any experience in Zen? Any recommendations for good books on Zen for a Western mind?
