The Yule Cat (Icelandic: Jólakötturinn or Jólaköttur) is a monster from Icelandic folklore, a huge and vicious cat said to lurk about the snowy countryside during Christmas time and eat people who have not received any new clothes to wear before Christmas Eve. The Yule Cat has become associated with other figures from Icelandic folklore as the house pet of the giantess Grýla and her sons, the Yule Lads.
The threat of being eaten by the Yule Cat was used by farmers as an incentive for their workers to finish processing the autumn wool before Christmas. The ones who took part in the work would be rewarded with new clothes, but those who did not would get nothing and thus would be preyed upon by the monstrous cat. The cat has alternatively been interpreted as merely eating away the food of ones without new clothes during Christmas feasts. The perception of the Yule Cat as a man-eating beast was partly popularized by the poet Jóhannes úr Kötlum in his poem Jólakötturinn.
In popular folklore Befana visits all the children of Italy on the eve of the Feast of the Epiphany to fill their stockings with candy and presents if they are good. Or a lump of coal or dark candy if they are bad. In many poorer parts of Italy and in particular rural Sicily, a stick in a stocking was placed instead of coal. Being a good housekeeper, many say she will sweep the floor before she leaves. To some the sweeping meant the sweeping away of the problems of the year. The child's family typically leaves a small glass of wine and a plate with a few morsels of food, often regional or local, for the Befana.
She is usually portrayed as an old lady riding a broomstick through the air wearing a black shawl and is covered in soot because she enters the children's houses through the chimney. She is often smiling and carries a bag or hamper filled with candy, gifts, or both.
The lights in the basement hallway has been turning on and off like crazy today. It stopped when I asked "it" to stop. There also was a door that was open, and everytime I went near tje door to close it the lights flickered, and stopped when I backed away from the door. When I finally closed it the lights went completely off.
I am hoping that it's a mix between bad wiring and coincidences, but if this is in fact something supernatural, do you think it is demonic or ghostly?
I took a picture of the door, and this might be my imagination playing with me, but I see a face at the top of the door.

I grew up in a small mountain town, literally surrounded by woods and swampy areas and a bunch of lakes, so you could say it was the perfect place for creepy shit to be happening all the time. I'm gonna share one, maybe more than one story from that town.

If you could get your hands on a Google cardboard and download 'Sisters', it's a short-lived game with no story, but very creepy. There are some others for cardboard as well. The immersive environment of cardboard+headphones makes you feel very vulnerable

There are many curses featured in old stories. Sometimes they were ironic punishments for petty crimes, other times they were deadly. Either way, they explored what people of those times were afraid of.
I wondered if you had any ideas for curses which would fit in to our modern society.
I'll start: The Creep Curse
Every day, you recieve a piece of candy. You must give it to a child (12 or under) within 24 hours. If you are unable to give it away, one day will be taken from you life.
If you eat it yourself, you will die.
Giving it to someone over 12 will have no effect and you will lose one day.
The curse will last for the rest of your life unless you are able to lift it.
It's a pretty minor curse but the interesting part is finding ways to hand out candy to kids without being labelled as a pedo. If you get arrested, you'd be screwed since you wouldn't be able to give it away.
Let's hear your ideas!
