1TB HDD stopped working all of the sudden. Spins up fine with no audible clicking or grinding. 9 times out of 10 it is not recognized by OS or BIOS, and when it is. it's inaccessible. From my research, I'm guessing it's a faulty PCB.
Opinions?
Sounds like your Paddle-card is dead. Drive works fine but data isn't going from platter to platter.
Not really something I'd recommend the average User operate on, but you can find a dead drive and switch them out. You literally pull the one off the dead drive and swap it out with your good one.

I'd use one of the 1/10th times you have with it working to BACK UP EVERYTHING YOU GIVE A SHIT ABOUT as any attempted opening / fixing of the HDD has a high chance of fucking it over for good.
I've been looking around for study guides, and what exactly will be on the GED test, but everything I find just seems outdated. After I get my test I was hopping to go into the Navy or Army, but I've always heard they don't take in people who has their GED. I sorta feel like crap for not finishing high school, but everyone around me at the time keep making feel unwanted and never wanted to be succeed, and just turning 22 and have done nothing but worked at a factory job ever since makes me want go out and do more with my life.

I have a GED. It was quite easy really. Also, you CAN join the military with a GED as long as:
1. You have 15 college credits (You can get them from a junior college or community college. It should take about a semester or 5 courses.)
2. Your ASVAB score meets the minimum requirements for GED enlistees. The minimum for people with GEDs is quite a bit higher than for HS Diploma holders. I got my GED in 2013 and got my 15 credits last year. I am currently in the DEP for the Navy and should be going to boot camp in a few months. So as long as you're still in your early to mid 20s I would say you should go for it. Unfortunately the GED has changed some since I got it but it should still be easy if you had average grades in HS. Best of luck!

Also, if you can, get one of those GED Prep books. You can find them online or at a book shop like Barnes and Noble.
OR in your area see if the local community college or school board offers GED Preparation classes. This is very beneficial if you can work the classes around your job. This is what I did because I was really rusty with algebra.

What's a good alternative to Cobian Backup for Windows file syncing?
I don't need imaging, I just want a program to manage scheduled copying of files to multiple hard drives and potentially network drives (I haven't set that up yet, but it would be neat). Cobian still works, but it's been about four years since the last update.
i don't know about schedules (don't use 'em) but i'm pretty happy with FreeFileSync for all my backup and syncing needs
My hostel uses this ISP for our university's WiFi connectivity. All of us have a username (our college registration number) and a password to log in to the WiFi network in our hostels. The download is capped at 20Gb, any way to bypass this and maybe get unlimited download?
Else, can someone suggest a hack to get other username and password details for WiFi?

Hey guys I know this is a long shot but maybe someone could help me out I have tried googling but I can't figure out exactly what's going on.
So, a few months ago my PSU died and i replaced it with another one. Ever since then what happens after i shut down my computer and turn off the switch on the back of my PSU is that the LED light turns on like once in every X seconds which would indicate to me that there is some sort of residual electricity charge or something on my motherboard. I am unsure if that is the case and how I should go about fixing it, I have replaced all the rams and even the battery chip but the problem persists. Recently my old GPU finally died (8800gt) and my concern now is that this "blinking-LED" issue could damage my components so I'm afraid to order a new 150-200$ GPU just to have it be susceptible to damage by a charged motherboard. Keep in mind that having a charged motherboard is what i suspect is occurring but I have little to no understanding on this issue and would appreciate any kind of help. Also keep in mind that everything has been working fine ever since i replaced my PSU, I just ignored the blinking-LED issue and I doubt it ruined my GPU since it was pretty old and used up anyways.
tldr: My motherboard LED blinks when all power is off, how do I check if it's safe to install new hardware on this computer?
