Who needs to do inputs when you can just press one button to activate an automated, invulnerability granting sequence that causes massive damage to occur to the enemy regardless of where it is and carries no risk of retaliation? And you just wait for a bit for the attack to recharge and do it again, no resource management involved.

You're talking about the Reaction Commands, right?
These "automated sequences" are fairly rare and actaully require a solid reaction time. Hell, sometimes using them can also cause you to get fucked by the enemy.
But who needs that when you can just spam the trianlge button to look at all those fancy particles while your enemies get fucked, with no skill involved?
