Don't worry. 3 was garbage. Stupid writing, not even bad, but actually stupid. Ugly, awful cutscene style, hardly any gameplay (tried NYM when I finished and it was worthless), terrible choice of environments, level design, everything really.

And Genji has way better surviability due to his mobility.
How do I get into this game?
I love the mechanical depth and crazy shit that can happen, but ever time I start up I'm at a loss at what to do because of so many options and shit I know nothing about. It's not so much the ASCII UI as it is the lack of a starting point I can notice.
If anyone has any advice, feel free to share. I really want to get into this game.

It's a ridiculously easy game once you understand the basics.
Even with haunted setting with tower and goblins as neighbours, you have to try really hard to lose.
Watch a youtube lets play, install graphics pack (all you need comes in lazy newbie pack) and then give it a whirl.

I'm shocked anyone bought it. I absolutely loved ME. A top 10 game for sure. Everything I heard about Catalyst us terrible though and when I checked Twitch there were 3 legit 12 year olds doing typical open world shite or slowly navigating and absolutely bizarrely designed room.

What is your favorite RPG battle style? Would you like to see more games incorporate it?
I mostly prefer action rpgs but I'm starting to really get into the "Active Dimension Battle" system incorporated in games like FFXII and Xenoblade.
I like games that have an action and positioning elements but are still menu and strategy based.
Final Fantasy 11 and 12 are good examples. I don't like how Xenoblade has shifted into the MMO style hotbar
Grandia II has the best combat system of any JRPG I've played, one of the few if not the only one where blocking is a legit move and not just there for the sake of it.

End of a franchise.
Killed everything good about the first 2 games.
Atmosphere changed from horror movie to Disney animated film
Pretty much removed everything they were working on up until the final release
Its just a skinnerbox with blizzard's logo on it, designed entirely around consoles.
