I've seen it do nothing but backfire on the people claiming to boycott them. If anything I'm seeing more evidence of people buying the game from them because they didn't realize it was being offered than anyone demonstrating that they were a customer who is now taking their money elsewhere.

M&B Warband and Napoleonic Wars are all you need
NW has some fucking great multiplayer and it's still very much alive today. If you get into a regiment and do line battle events it's the closest you'll get to being a Napoleonic soldier
NW like Warband has tons of mods such as Bearforce 1 (Star Wars multiplayer) and North and South (American Civil War Multiplayer)
